Auditing electronic devices for customer personal information
Abstract
A system, method, and auditing device for processing electronic devices to detect CPI. The auditing device may include a user interface for communicating information and receiving user input. The auditing device may also include a number of interfaces operable to communicate with the one or more electronic devices. The auditing device may also include a memory operable to store a plurality of libraries providing information for detecting CPI on a number of electronic devices including a number of makes, models, and configurations. The auditing device may also include logic operable to utilize the plurality of libraries to detect CPI included on the one or more electronic devices communicating with the testing device, record an identification of an electronic device in response to detecting the CPI is present on the electronic device, and store an alert associated with the identification indicating that CPI is present on the electronic device.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed:
1 . An auditing device for detecting customer personal information (CPI), the auditing device comprising:
a user interface for communicating information and receiving user input; a plurality of interfaces operable to communicate with the one or more electronic devices; a memory operable to store a plurality of libraries providing information for detecting CPI on a plurality of electronic devices including a plurality of makes, models, and configurations; and logic operable to utilize the plurality of libraries to detect CPI included on the one or more electronic devices communicating with the auditing device, record an identification of an electronic device in response to detecting the CPI is present on the electronic device, and store an alert associated with the identification indicating that CPI is present on the electronic device.
2 . The auditing device according to claim 1 , wherein the auditing device communicates with a master auditing device to update the plurality of libraries as a CPI removal system.
3 . The auditing device according to claim 2 , wherein the auditing device is at a retail store.
4 . The auditing device according to claim 1 , wherein the logic is a CPI removal application and is further operable to remove the CPI from the electronic device in response to determining the CPI is present on the electronic device.
5 . The auditing device according to claim 1 , wherein the identifier is an IMEI, wherein metadata is retrieved from the electronic device indicating a date and time the CPI was detected, an operator that found the CPI, a facility in which the CPI was found, one or more types of CPI, and one or more locations of the CPI.
6 . The auditing device according to claim 1 , wherein the auditing device is a remote auditing device that communicates with a warehouse management system to update the alert in a database.
7 . The auditing device according to claim 1 , wherein the alert quarantines the electronic device until the CPI is verifiably removed.
8 . The auditing device according to claim 7 , wherein the electronic devices is electronically quarantined by marking the electronic device indicating the electronic device is not shippable.
9 . The auditing device according to claim 1 , wherein the logic communicates with the user interface to provide a user instructions for removing the CPI.
10 . The auditing device according to claim 1 , wherein the logic automatically removes the CPI from the electronic device in response to detecting the CPI on the electronic device.
11 . An auditing device for detecting customer personal information (CPI), the auditing device comprising:
a plurality of interfaces communicating with a plurality of electronic devices concurrently; a memory storing a plurality of libraries providing information for detecting CPI on the plurality of electronic devices; and logic in communication with the memory utilizing the plurality of libraries to detect CPI included on one or more electronic devices communicating with the auditing device, record an identification of the one or more electronic devices within the plurality of electronic devices in response to detecting the CPI is present on the one or more electronic devices, and store an alert associated with the identification indicating that CPI is present on the one or more electronic devices.
12 . The auditing device according to claim 11 , wherein the auditing device communicates with a master auditing device to update the plurality of libraries in response to updates to the plurality of libraries.
13 . The auditing device according to claim 11 , wherein the plurality of libraries include information for a plurality of makes, models, and configurations of the plurality of electronic devices.
14 . The auditing device according to claim 11 , wherein the alert quarantines the electronic device until the CPI is verifiably removed.
15 . The auditing device according to claim 11 , wherein the logic remove the CPI from the one or more electronic devices in response to determining the CPI is present on the one or more electronic devices.
16 . An auditing device comprising:
a processor for executing a set of instructions; and a memory for storing the set of instructions, wherein the set of instructions are executed to: communicate with a plurality of electronic devices through a plurality of interfaces of the auditing device; scan the plurality of electronic devices to detect CPI, wherein the scanning is performed utilizing libraries associated with a plurality of makes, models, and configurations; record an electronic device in response to detecting CPI is present on the electronic device; and store an alert associated with the identification indicating that CPI is present on the electronic device.
17 . The auditing device according to claim 16 , wherein the auditing device communicates with a master auditing device to update the plurality of libraries as a CPI removal system.
18 . The auditing device according to claim 16 , wherein the alert quarantines the electronic device until the CPI is verifiably removed.
19 . The auditing device according to claim 16 , wherein the set of instructions are further executed to:
remove the CPI from the electronic device in response to determining the CPI is present on the electronic device.
20 . The auditing device according to claim 16 , wherein the identifier is an IMEI, wherein metadata is retrieved from the electronic device indicating:
a date and a time the CPI was detected, an operator that found the CPI, a facility in which the CPI was found, one or more types of CPI, and one or more locations of the CPI.Cited by (0)
