Publish-subscribe based exchange for network services
Abstract
A publication exchange device may receive information that identifies a subscriber device, and may receive a set of subscription keys associated with subscribed-to network event information to be provided to the subscriber device. The publication exchange device may receive published network event information from one or more publisher devices, and may determine that the published network event information includes information that matches the set of subscription keys. The publication exchange device may identify the subscribed-to network event information, from the published network event information, using the set of subscription keys. The publication exchange device may provide the subscribed-to network event information to the subscriber device based on identifying the subscribed-to network event information.

21 . A method comprising:
receiving, by a device that acts as a publisher device and as a subscription device, publication information that identifies a publication condition; detecting, by the device, an occurrence of the publication condition; providing, by the device, event information to a publication exchange device based on detecting the occurrence of the publication condition; and receiving, by the device and from an input device, subscription information that identifies particular information that the publication exchange device is to provide to the device.
22 . The method of claim 21 , where the device is a broadband network gateway.
23 . The method of claim 21 , where the publication information further identifies the event information to be published.
24 . The method of claim 21 , where the event information comprises two or more of:
an internet protocol (IP) address, a subscriber identifier, or information that identifies authorized services that a subscribing user is authorized to receive.
25 . The method of claim 21 , where the particular information identifies a traffic flow identifier.
26 . The method of claim 21 , where the subscription information further identifies a subscription condition.
27 . The method of claim 26 , where the subscription condition indicates that the publication exchange device is to provide the particular information to the device when the publication exchange device receives information that the particular information is associated with a particular type of content.
28 . A device comprising:
a memory; and one or more processors to:
receive publication information that identifies a publication condition;
detect an occurrence of the publication condition;
provide event information to a publication exchange device based on detecting the occurrence of the publication condition; and
receive subscription information that identifies particular information that the publication exchange device is to provide to the device.
29 . The device of claim 28 , where the device acts as a publisher device and as a subscription device.
30 . The device of claim 28 ,
where the publication information further identifies the event information to be published, and where the event information comprises one or more of:
an Internet protocol (IP) address,
a subscriber identifier, or
information that identifies authorized services that a subscribing user is authorized to receive.
31 . The device of claim 28 , where the particular information identifies a traffic flow identifier.
32 . The device of claim 28 , where the subscription information further identifies a subscription condition.
33 . The device of claim 32 , where the subscription condition indicates that the publication exchange device is to provide the particular information to the device when the publication exchange device receives information that the particular information is associated with a particular type of content.
34 . The device of claim 28 , where the publication information and the subscription information are received from an input device of a network operator.
35 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions, the instructions comprising:
one or more instructions that, when executed by a device, cause the device to:
receive publication information that identifies a publication condition;
detect an occurrence of the publication condition;
provide event information to a publication exchange device based on detecting the occurrence of the publication condition; and
receive subscription information that identifies particular information that the publication exchange device is to provide to the device.
36 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 35 ,
where the device is a broadband network gateway, and where the device acts as a publisher device and as a subscription device.
37 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 35 ,
where the publication information further identifies the event information to be published, and where the event information comprises one or more of:
an internet protocol (IP) address,
a subscriber identifier, or
information that identifies authorized services that a subscribing user is authorized to receive.
38 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 35 , where the subscription information further identifies a subscription condition.

The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 38 , where the subscription condition indicates that the publication exchange device is to provide the particular information to the device when the publication exchange device receives information that the particular information is associated with a particular type of content.
