Abstract
A canopy treatment system to treat plants is disclosed. In one implementation according to examples of the present disclosure, a canopy treatment system comprises a hot fluid generating system configured to heat a fluid, the hot fluid generating system including a canopy valve; and a canopy in fluid communication with the hot fluid generating system, the canopy defining a treatment region, the canopy valve of the hot fluid generating system selectively positionable to control fluid flow between the hot fluid generating system and the canopy.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A canopy treatment system comprising:
a hot fluid generating system configured to heat a fluid; and a canopy in fluid communication with the hot fluid generating system, the canopy defining a treatment region, the canopy comprising a first treatment ring, the first treatment ring comprising a first spray nozzle, the first spray nozzle configured to spray the fluid into the treatment region.
2 . The canopy treatment system of claim 1 , wherein the first treatment ring is shaped to circumferentially surround a tree when the tree is positioned in the treatment region.
3 . The canopy treatment system of claim 1 , wherein the canopy further comprises a support ring, the support ring connected to the first treatment ring.
4 . The canopy treatment system of claim 3 , wherein the canopy further comprises a cover, the cover extending vertically from the support ring to the first treatment ring, the cover draped around and surrounding the first treatment ring, the cover defining the treatment region.
5 . The canopy treatment system of claim 4 , wherein:
the canopy further comprises a base ring disposed opposite from the support ring; the first treatment ring is vertically positioned between the support ring and the base ring; the cover extends from the support ring to the base ring; and the cover surrounds the base ring.
6 . The canopy treatment system of claim 5 , wherein the base ring defines a bottom opening, and wherein the bottom opening is configured to slip over a tree to position the tree within the treatment region of the canopy.
7 . The canopy treatment system of claim 4 , wherein the cover is configured to collapse when the support ring and the first treatment ring are brought together.
8 . The canopy treatment system of claim 4 , wherein the support ring defines a top opening, and wherein the cover covers the top opening.
9 . The canopy treatment system of claim 4 , wherein the support ring is configured to fold about a support ring hinge.
10 . The canopy treatment system of claim 4 , wherein the first treatment ring is suspended from the support ring by a plurality of support mechanisms.
11 . The canopy treatment system of claim 10 , wherein the support mechanisms are configured to extend and collapse to adjust a height of the canopy.
12 . The canopy treatment system of claim 1 , wherein the fluid is a liquid, and wherein the first spray nozzle is configured to atomize the liquid.
13 . The canopy treatment system of claim 1 , wherein the fluid is water, and wherein the first spray nozzle is configured to spray steam into the treatment region.
14 . The canopy treatment system of claim 1 , wherein the hot fluid generating system comprises a canopy valve configured to control a flow of the fluid from the hot fluid generating system to the canopy.
15 . The canopy treatment system of claim 1 , wherein the first treatment ring comprises piping segments connected together by ring unions, and wherein the pipe segments are connected in fluid communication with the first spray nozzle.
16 . The canopy treatment system of claim 1 , wherein the first treatment ring defines an enclosed ring shape.
17 . The canopy treatment system of claim 16 , wherein the first treatment ring defines an octagonal shape.
18 . The canopy treatment system of claim 1 , wherein:
the canopy further comprises a second treatment ring; the second treatment ring is connected to the first treatment ring; the second treatment ring comprises a second spray nozzle configured to spray the fluid into the treatment region; the first treatment ring comprises a first fluid connector; the second treatment ring comprises a second fluid connector; and the first fluid connector is connected in fluid communication to the second fluid connector to supply the fluid from the first treatment ring to the second treatment ring.
19 . The canopy treatment system of claim 18 , wherein the first fluid connector is connected to the second fluid connector by a hose.
20 . The canopy treatment system of claim 1 , wherein:
the canopy further comprises a base ring positioned below the first treatment ring; the base ring defines a bottom opening; the canopy further comprises a cover extending vertically between the first treatment ring and the base ring; the cover is draped around and surrounds the first treatment ring and the base ring; the cover defines the treatment region within the canopy; and the canopy is configured to fully enclose a tree within the treatment region when the base ring is positioned around the tree and the base ring is positioned on a ground surface around the tree.Cited by (0)
