Dentifrice formulations and methods of oral care

Abstract

Oral care compositions are disclosed. The compositions include hypochlorous acid in combination with one or more of a rheology agent, an abrasive, a surfactant, a buffer, or an inorganic compound. Methods of using and making the dentifrice compositions are also disclosed.

1 . An oral care composition, comprising:
 hypochlorite present in an amount of about 10 to about 300 ppm;   sodium magnesium silicate;   an abrasive;   a surfactant; and   a phosphate buffer.

         3 . The oral care composition of  claim 1 , wherein the hypochlorite is present in an amount of about 75 ppm. 
     
     
         4 . The oral care composition of  claim 1 , wherein the sodium magnesium silicate is present in an amount of about 0.5 to about 10% w/v. 
     
     
         5 . The oral care composition of  claim 1 , wherein the sodium magnesium silicate is present in an amount of about 5% w/v. 
     
     
         6 . The oral care composition of  claim 1 , wherein the abrasive comprises hydrated silica present in an amount of about 10 to about 30% w/v. 
     
     
         7 . The oral care composition of  claim 1 , wherein the abrasive comprises hydrated silica present in an amount of about 18% w/v. 
     
     
         8 . The oral care composition of  claim 1 , wherein the surfactant comprises sodium coco sulfate (SCS) present in an amount of about 0 to about 5% w/v. 
     
     
         9 . The oral care composition of  claim 1 , wherein the surfactant comprises sodium coco sulfate (SCS) present in an amount of about 1% w/v. 
     
     
         10 . The oral care composition of  claim 1 , wherein the phosphate buffer is present in an amount of about 0 to about 5% w/v. 
     
     
         11 . The oral care composition of  claim 1 , wherein the phosphate buffer is present in an amount of about 1% w/v. 
     
     
         12 . The oral care composition of  claim 1 , wherein the hypochlorite is in an amount of about 75 ppm, wherein the sodium magnesium silicate is in an amount of about 5% w/v, wherein the abrasive comprises hydrated silica in an amount of about 18% w/v, wherein the surfactant comprises sodium coco sulfate (SCS) in an amount of about 1% w/v, and wherein the phosphate buffer is in an amount of about 1% w/v. 
     
     
         13 . The oral care composition of  claim 1 , wherein the composition is formulated as a paste. 
     
     
         14 . The oral care composition of  claim 13 , wherein the paste is a toothpaste.
