Device and method for making a pompom

Abstract

In order to provide a pompom making device which can make easily pompoms having different diameters, a pompom making device has a base member formed long, and a first yarn wrapping member and a second yarn wrapping member which are formed long and are provided on the base member so as not only to intersect the base member but also to face each other, and the first yarn wrapping member is formed so as to move towards and away from the second yarn wrapping member. Specifically, the first yarn wrapping member is formed so as to move along the base member. Further, the first yarn wrapping member and the second yarn wrapping member include yarn cutting tool inserting grooves, respectively, so as to facilitate the cutting of a bunch of wrapped yarn.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A pompom making device having:
 a base member which is formed long; and   a first yarn wrapping member and a second yarn wrapping member which are formed long and which are provided on the base member so as not only to intersect the base member but also to face each other,   wherein either the first yarn wrapping member or the second yarn wrapping member is formed so as to move towards and away from the other of the first yarn wrapping member or the second yarn wrapping member.   
     
     
         2 . The pompom making device according to  claim 1 ,
 wherein either the first yarn wrapping member or the second yarn wrapping member is formed so as to move along the base member.   
     
     
         3 . The pompom making device according to  claim 1 , having:
 a deflection preventing member which is formed long and which is provided so as to extend between the first yarn wrapping member and the second yarn wrapping member.   
     
     
         4 . The pompom making device according to  claim 2 , having:
 a deflection preventing member which is formed long and which is provided so as to extend between the first yarn wrapping member and the second yarn wrapping member.   
     
     
         5 . The pompom making device according to  claim 1 ,
 wherein the other of the first yarn wrapping member or the second yarn wrapping member is provided rotatably on the base member.   
     
     
         6 . The pompom making device according to  claim 2 ,
 wherein the other of the first yarn wrapping member or the second yarn wrapping member is provided rotatably on the base member.   
     
     
         7 . The pompom making device according to  claim 3 ,
 wherein the other of the first yarn wrapping member or the second yarn wrapping member is provided rotatably on the base member.   
     
     
         8 . The pompom making device according to  claim 4 ,
 wherein the other of the first yarn wrapping member or the second yarn wrapping member is provided rotatably on the base member.   
     
     
         9 . The pompom making device according to  claim 5 ,
 wherein the rotation of the other of the first yarn wrapping member or the second yarn wrapping member relative to the base member is restricted by fitting between a recessed portion and a projecting portion which are provided on either the first yarn wrapping member or the second yarn wrapping member and the base member.   
     
     
         10 . The pompom making device according to  claim 6 ,
 wherein the rotation of the other of the first yarn wrapping member or the second yarn wrapping member relative to the base member is restricted by fitting between a recessed portion and a projecting portion which are provided on either the first yarn wrapping member or the second yarn wrapping member and the base member.   
     
     
         11 . The pompom making device according to  claim 7 ,
 wherein the rotation of the other of the first yarn wrapping member or the second yarn wrapping member relative to the base member is restricted by fitting between a recessed portion and a projecting portion which are provided on either the first yarn wrapping member or the second yarn wrapping member and the base member.   
     
     
         12 . The pompom making device according to  claim 8 ,
 wherein the rotation of the other of the first yarn wrapping member or the second yarn wrapping member relative to the base member is restricted by fitting between a recessed portion and a projecting portion which are provided on either the first yarn wrapping member or the second yarn wrapping member and the base member.   
     
     
         13 . The pompom making device according to  claim 1 ,
 wherein yarn cutting tool inserting grooves are formed individually on portions of the first yarn wrapping member and the second yarn wrapping member which are located to opposite to facing portions thereof so as to extend along longitudinal directions of the first yarn wrapping member and the second yarn wrapping member.   
     
     
         14 . The pompom making device according to  claim 1 ,
 wherein thread passage grooves are formed on the facing portions of the first yarn wrapping member and the second yarn wrapping member so as to extend along the longitudinal directions of the first yarn wrapping member and the second yarn wrapping member.   
     
     
         15 . The pompom making device according to  claim 1 ,
 wherein the base member has yarn wrapping member position scale divisions which indicate a position of either the first yarn wrapping member or the second yarn wrapping member which moves along the base member and center position scale divisions which indicate a center position between the first yarn wrapping member and the second yarn wrapping member which corresponds to a position indicated by the yarn wrapping member scale divisions.   
     
     
         16 . The pompom making device according to  claim 1 ,
 wherein a yarn wrapping amount restriction member for specifying a yarn wrapping amount is provided on either or both of the first yarn wrapping member and the second yarn wrapping member.   
     
     
         17 . The pompom making device according to  claim 16 ,
 wherein a slit for holding an end portion of a thread is formed on the yarn wrapping amount restriction member.   
     
     
         18 . The pompom making device according to  claim 1 ,
 wherein an engaging portion having a shape of dents and projections is formed on a side edge portion of the base member, and   wherein either the first yarn wrapping member or the second yarn wrapping member which is formed so as to move along the base member has provided thereon an engaging member which is biased towards the base member and which can be brought into engagement with the engaging portion.   
     
     
         19 . A pompom making method, having:
 a first step of moving either of a first yarn wrapping member and a second yarn wrapping member which are formed long and which are provided on a base member which is formed long so as not only to intersect the base member at right angles but also to face each other relative to the base member so as to control a distance between the first yarn wrapping member and the second yarn wrapping member;   a second step of wrapping yarn around the first yarn wrapping member and the second yarn wrapping member so as to straddle the distance therebetween;   a third step of tying temporarily a center of a bunch of wrapped yarn formed in the second step with a tying thread; and   a fourth step of cutting the bunch of wrapped yarn formed in the second step at portions of the first yarn wrapping member and the second yarn wrapping member which are located opposite to facing portions thereof.   
     
     
         20 . A pompom making method, having:
 a first step of passing a tying thread through thread passage grooves which are provided on facing portions of a first yarn wrapping member and a second yarn wrapping member which are formed long and which are provided on a base member which is formed long so as not only to intersect the base member but also to face each other;   a second step of wrapping yarn on each of the first yarn wrapping member and the second yarn wrapping member;   a third step of pulling on both ends of the tying thread to make a temporary knot thereon; and   a fourth step of cutting bunches of wrapped yarn formed in the second step at portions of the first yarn wrapping member and the second yarn wrapping member which are located opposite to facing portions thereof.
