Case for a computing device
Abstract
A system for protecting an electronic device and securely and conveniently carrying tangible portable contents therewith. The system may include a resilient portion dimensioned to detachably receive the electronic device by a continuous perimetral edge. The electronic device may be secured thereto by an inwardly extending, retaining lip of the perimetral edge. A rigid portion may be detachably connected to a rear surface of the resilient portion opposite the electronic device. The rigid portion may be dimensioned to shield at least part of the rear surface of the rigid portion. A cavity may be defined between the rigid portion and the rear surface of the resilient portion when the rigid portion is in a closed position. The cavity is operable to secure the tangible contents in the closed position and receive the tangible contents in an opened position.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A composite case for an electronic device comprising:
a resilient portion dimensioned to detachably receive the electronic device, the resilient portion comprising a rear planar surface dimensioned to cover a back portion of the electronic device and perimetral edges extended from the rear planar surface; and a rigid portion hingedly connected to the rear planar surface of the resilient portion, the rigid portion dimensioned to shield at least part of the rear planar surface of the resilient portion, the rigid portion being hingedly movable between open and closed positions; wherein a cavity is formed between the rigid portion and the rear planar surface of the resilient portion when the rigid portion is in the closed position.
2 . The case of claim 1 , wherein the resilient portion further comprises upper and lower reinforced structure defined about an inner surface of the resilient portion, the inner surface being opposite the rear planar surface and adjacent the cavity.
3 . The case of claim 2 , wherein the upper and lower structure is in communication through one or more perimetral reinforced structure, the cavity being defined between the inner surface of the resilient portion, the inner surface of the rigid portion, and the upper, lower, and one or more perimetral reinforced structure.
4 . The case of claim 3 , wherein a volume of the cavity is adjustable by stretching or moving the inner surface of the resilient portion between the upper, lower, and one or more perimetral reinforced structures.
5 . The case of claim 3 , the resilient portion further comprising one or more hinged fasteners positioned along a perimetral edge for hingedly engaging with associated one or more hinged fasteners of the rigid portion.
6 . The case of claim 5 , wherein contents can be detachably or slideably insertable into the cavity in the closed position, and wherein contents in the cavity are sealable between the rigid and resilient portions.
7 . The case of claim 5 , wherein the rigid portion is rotatable about its one or more hinged fasteners, and wherein in the closed state the inner surface of the rigid portion and the rear planar surface of the resilient portion are substantially parallel with each other.
8 . The case of claim 1 , wherein in the closed position, one or more fasteners of the rigid portion are securely engaged with one or more associated fasteners of the resilient portion.
9 . The case of claim 1 , wherein the rigid portion is defined by an array of raised or thicker sections arranged for increased bending stiffness and impact resistance.
10 . A system for protecting an electronic device and tangible contents, the system comprising:
a resilient portion dimensioned to detachably receive the electronic device, the resilient portion comprising a rear planar surface and a continuous perimetral edge; the electronic device, when incorporated, is detachably received by the resilient portion by wrapping the perimetral edge and the rear planar surface around the electronic device and secured by an inwardly extending lip of the perimetral edge; and a rigid portion hingedly connected to the resilient portion opposite the electronic device, the rigid portion being hingedly movable between open and closed positions about an edge shared with the resilient portion and dimensioned to shield at least part of the rear surface of the resilient portion; a cavity defined between the rigid portion and the rear planar surface of the resilient portion when the rigid portion is in the closed position, and
wherein the cavity is operable to secure the tangible contents in the closed position and receive the tangible contents in the opened position.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
