Abstract

An isolated stearoyl amino acid salt of formula (II) or formula (III) is provided, wherein M in the formula (II) is K + , Na + , or NH 4 + ; and M 2+ in the formula (III) is Ba 2+ , Ca 2+ , or Mg 2+ . Also provided are compositions containing the isolated stearoyl amino acid salt and methods of using the isolated stearoyl amino acid salt and composition to treat a disorder, such as cerebral ischemia, stroke, Alzheimer's disease, and Parkinson's disease.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . An isolated stearoyl amino acid salt of formula (II) or formula (III):

         wherein M in the formula (II) is K + , Na + , or NH 4 + ; and M 2+ in the formula (III) is Ba 2+ , Ca 2+ , or Mg 2+ .

2 . The isolated stearoyl amino acid salt of claim 1 , being an isolated stearoyl amino acid salt of formula (II), wherein M is K + , Na + , or NH 4 + .

3 . The isolated stearoyl amino acid salt of claim 1 , being an isolated stearoyl amino acid alt of formula (III), wherein M 2+ is Ba 2+ , Ca 2+ , or Mg 2+ .

4 . An isolated stearoyl amino acid salt of formula (II):

         wherein M is K + .

5 . An isolated stearoyl amino acid salt of formula (II):

         wherein M is Na + .

6 . A pharmaceutical composition comprising an effective amount of the isolated stearoyl amino acid salt of claim 1 , and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.

7 . A pharmaceutical composition comprising an effective amount of the isolated stearoyl amino acid salt of claim 4 , and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.

8 . A pharmaceutical composition comprising an effective amount of the isolated stearoyl amino acid salt of claim 5 , and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.

9 . A method of preparing the pharmaceutical composition of claim 6 , the method comprising combining an effective amount of the isolated stearoyl amino acid salt with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.

10 . A method of preparing the pharmaceutical composition of claim 7 , the method comprising combining an effective amount of the isolated stearoyl amino acid salt with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.

11 . A method of preparing the pharmaceutical composition of claim 8 , the method comprising combining an effective amount of the isolated stearoyl amino acid salt with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.

12 . A method of treating a disorder in a subject in need thereof, the method comprising administering to the subject the pharmaceutical composition of claim 6 , wherein the disorder is selected from the group consisting of cerebral ischemia, stroke, Alzheimer's disease, and Parkinson's disease.

13 . A method of treating a disorder in a subject in need thereof, the method comprising administering to the subject the pharmaceutical composition of claim 7 , wherein the disorder is selected from the group consisting of cerebral ischemia, stroke, Alzheimer's disease, and Parkinson's disease.

14 . A method of treating a disorder in a subject in need thereof, the method comprising administering to the subject the pharmaceutical composition of claim 8 , wherein the disorder is selected from the group consisting of cerebral ischemia, stroke, Alzheimer's disease, and Parkinson's disease.
