Character Identification for Establishing Communication

Abstract

Techniques are described for character identification for establishing communication. A document is received with an inserted object in place of a numeric or alphanumeric sequence of characters that satisfy a format usable to establish a communication. The received document is displayed on a screen of a computing device. A user input is received at an input device of the computing device that represents activation of the object, and the communication is initiated with a device remote to the computing device.

1 . A method for implementing providing automatic communication activation on a computing device, comprising:
 receiving, at the computing device, an electronic document with an inserted object in place of a numeric or alphanumeric sequence of characters in the document that satisfies a specified format, wherein the object is activatable to initiate communication based on the numeric or alphanumeric sequence;   causing the received electronic document to display on a screen of the computing device;   receiving, at an input device of the computing device, a user input representing activation of the object; and   initiating the communication with a device remote to the computing device based on the numeric or alphanumeric sequence responsive to receiving the user input.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the electronic document is an altered web page corresponding to a web page, the web page includes the numeric or alphanumeric sequence of characters, and the altered web page has altered computer instructions that replace the numeric or alphanumeric sequence of characters with the inserted object. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the object comprises a visual representation of a country of origin of the document. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the object includes a country code of a country of origin of the document. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the object includes a country code of a country of origin of the document, and wherein said initiating the communication is further based on the country code. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the electronic document is a web page with computer code that includes the object. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein said causing the received electronic document to display on the screen of the computing device includes displaying the web page within a web browser of the computing device. 
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein said initiating the communication includes passing the numeric or alphanumeric sequence of characters to a software application on the computing device to cause the software application to initiate the communication. 
     
     
         9 . A system for implementing providing automatic communication activation, comprising:
 one or more processors; and   one or more computer readable media comprising computer code components that, responsive to execution by the one or more processors, perform operations comprising:
 receiving, at a computing device, an electronic document with an inserted object in place of a numeric or alphanumeric sequence of characters in the document that satisfies a specified format, wherein the object is activatable to initiate communication based on the numeric or alphanumeric sequence; 
 causing the received electronic document to display on a screen of the computing device; 
 receiving, at an input device of the computing device, a user input representing activation of the object; and 
 initiating the communication with a device remote to the computing device based on the numeric or alphanumeric sequence responsive to receiving the user input.

The system of  claim 9 , wherein the electronic document is an altered web page corresponding to a web page, the web page includes the numeric or alphanumeric sequence of characters, and the altered web page has an altered computer instructions that replace the numeric or alphanumeric sequence of character with the inserted object. 
     
     
         11 . The system of  claim 9 , wherein the object comprises a visual representation of a country of origin of the document. 
     
     
         12 . The system of  claim 9 , wherein the object includes a country code of a country of origin of the document. 
     
     
         13 . The system of  claim 9 , wherein the object includes a country code of a country of origin of the document, and wherein said initiating the communication is further based on the country code. 
     
     
         14 . The system of  claim 9 , wherein the electronic document is a web page with computer instructions that include the object. 
     
     
         15 . The system of  claim 9 , wherein said causing the received electronic document to display on the screen of the computing device includes displaying the web page within a web browser of the computing device. 
     
     
         16 . The system of  claim 9 , wherein said initiating the communication includes passing the numeric or alphanumeric sequence of characters to a software application on the computing device and causing the software application to instigate the communication. 
     
     
         17 . A system for implementing providing automatic communication activation on a computing device, the system comprising:
 means for receiving, at a computing device, an electronic document with an inserted object in place of a numeric or alphanumeric sequence of characters in the document that satisfies a specified format, wherein the object is activatable to initiate communication based on the numeric or alphanumeric sequence;   means for causing the received electronic document to display on a screen of the computing device;   means for receiving, at an input device of the computing device, a user input representing activation of the object; and   means for initiating the communication with a device remote to the computing device based on the numeric or alphanumeric sequence responsive to receiving the user input.

The system of  claim 17 , wherein the electronic document is an altered web page corresponding to a web page, the web page includes the numeric or alphanumeric sequence of characters, and the altered web page has altered computer instructions that replace the numeric or alphanumeric sequence of characters with the inserted object. 
     
     
         19 . The system of  claim 17 , wherein the object includes a country code of a country of origin of the document, and wherein said initiating the communication is further based on the country code. 
     
     
         20 . The system of  claim 17 , wherein said initiating the communication includes passing the numeric or alphanumeric sequence of characters to a software application on the computing device to cause the software application to initiate the communication.
