Communications systems and methods using wireline adapters
Abstract
Systems and techniques for communication over telephony wireline. A command interface and control device may include a wireline input configured to connect the device to an operative line of a wireline telephony network (such as the PSTN) and to transmit voice signals to and receive voice signals from the wireline telephony network. The device may also include a cellular module configured to transmit signals to and receive signals from a cellular telephony network and a system controller to control communications on the wireline input and the cellular module. One or more wireline adapter modules may be configured to provide control functionality local to a telecommunications device.

2 . A method of providing communication with a wireless cellular telephony network, the method comprising:
receiving, by a cellular communication device at a user location, a wireless cellular telephony signal from the wireless cellular telephony network; providing, by the cellular communication device, a local wireless signal to a control module at the user location in response to the wireless cellular telephony signal; identifying, by the control module, a receiving device at the user location; and routing, by the control module, digital data packets corresponding to the local wireless signal to the receiving device.
3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the local wireless signal is a Bluetooth signal, a WiFi signal, or a Zigbee signal.
4 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the routing comprises transmitting the digital data packets to the receiving device using frequency division multiplexing and/or time division multiplexing.
5 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the routing comprises routing the digital data packets over at least one of a plurality of two wire pairs.
6 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the routing comprises routing the digital data packets to the receiving device over two-wire telephony wiring.
7 . The method of claim 6 , further comprising connecting the control module to a public switched telephone network (PSTN) by the two-wire telephony wiring.
8 . The method of claim 6 , wherein:
the location is a building associated with the user; and the two-wire telephony wiring is enclosed within the building.
9 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the receiving device is a first receiving device, the method further comprises routing the digital data packets to one or more additional receiving devices.
10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the routing is performed based on a predetermined association between the first and/or the one or more additional receiving devices and the wireless cellular telephony signal.
11 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising storing, by the control module, data associated with a call waiting, a call forwarding, a bridging, a conferencing, and/or a voicemail feature of the receiving device.
12 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the receiving device is a first receiving device, the method further comprising routing, by the control module, an analog telephony signal corresponding to the local wireless signal to a second receiving device, and wherein the second receiving device comprises a plain old telephone service (POTS) device.
13 . A system configured to provide communication with a wireless cellular telephony network, the system comprising:
a control module configured to receive, at a user location, a local wireless signal provided by a cellular communication device at the user location in response to a wireless cellular telephony signal received from the wireless telephony network, the control module comprising:
a memory configured to store a plurality of machine readable instructions; and
a processor configured to execute the plurality of machine readable instructions to perform a method comprising:
identifying a receiving device at the user location, and
selectively routing digital data packets corresponding to the local wireless signal.
14 . The system of claim 13 , wherein the local wireless signal is a Bluetooth signal, a WiFi signal, or a Zigbee signal.
15 . The system of claim 13 , wherein the selectively routing comprises transmitting the digital data packets to the receiving device using frequency division multiplexing and/or time division multiplexing.
16 . The system of claim 13 , wherein the selectively routing comprises routing the digital data packets over at least one of a plurality of two wire pairs.
17 . The system of claim 13 , wherein the selectively routing comprises routing the digital data packets to the receiving device over two-wire telephony wiring.
18 . The system of claim 17 , wherein the control module is connected to a public switched telephone network (PSTN) by the two-wire telephony wiring.
19 . The system of claim 17 , wherein the location is a building associated with the user, and the two-wire telephony wiring is enclosed within the building.
20 . The system of claim 13 , wherein the receiving device is a first receiving device, the system further comprises routing the digital data packets to one or more additional receiving devices, and wherein the selectively routing is performed based on a predetermined association between the first and/or the one or more additional receiving devices and the wireless cellular telephony signal.
21 . The system of claim 13 , wherein the receiving device is a first receiving device, the system further comprises routing, by the control module, an analog telephony signal corresponding to the local wireless signal to a second receiving device, and wherein the second receiving device comprises a plain old telephone service (POTS) device.Cited by (0)
