Managing copyrights of content for sharing on a social networking system
Abstract
A social graph may be modeled as a collection of claims. Each claim is associated with an author, an audience, and an assertion about a fact. Probabilistic information may be collected from various sources for a claim, enabling a social networking system to evaluate a truthfulness of the assertion made in the claim. User-declared profile information may be evaluated as claims. A user, entity, or application may make claims about any assertions made in the social networking system. Reputation scores may be determined for users based on evaluations of their historical assertions. Claims may be evaluated for truthfulness using a probabilistic prediction model using heuristics analysis, regression analysis, and machine learning methods. A claims-based profile of users may be provided to viewers based on the contexts in which the claims were made. Viewers may view claims made about users, such as the users' biographical information, contact information, expertise, and interests.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A method comprising:
receiving from a first user a plurality of content items each comprising video content; storing the video content for the first user in binary storage; receiving from the first user one or more settings for a particular video of the stored video content, the one or more settings specifying rules for controlling how the particular video may be distributed and accessed; receiving from a second user a request to reuse the particular video in a new content item; determining the one or more settings for the particular video; and in response to the one or more settings for the particular video allowing reuse by the second user, allowing the second user use of the particular video.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more settings for a particular video comprises one or more lists of users who may reuse one or more videos of the video content; and
wherein determining the one or more settings for the particular video comprises determining whether the second user is included on a list for the particular video indicating that the second user may reuse it.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more settings for the particular video are received from the first user via an interface.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more settings for the particular video are received from the first user via a preference setting.
5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
receiving an indication that the second user of the social networking system is viewing the particular video.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more settings for the particular video correspond to a default setting.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein determining the one or more settings for the particular video comprises allowing reuse by the second user in exchange for payment, further comprising:
receiving the payment from the second user for the second user to receive access to the particular video.
8 . The method of claim 7 , further comprising:
providing a user interface to the second user for providing the payment.
9 . A computer program product comprising a non-transitory computer readable storage medium having instructions encoded thereon that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform steps comprising:
receiving from a first user a plurality of content items each comprising video content; storing the video content for the first user in binary storage; receiving from the first user one or more settings for a particular video of the stored video content, the one or more settings specifying rules for controlling how the particular video may be distributed and accessed; receiving from a second user a request to reuse the particular video in a new content item; determining the one or more settings for the particular video; and in response to the one or more settings for the particular video allowing reuse by the second user, allowing the second user use of the particular video.
10 . The computer program product of claim 9 , wherein the one or more settings for a particular video comprises one or more lists of users who may reuse one or more videos of the video content; and
wherein determining the one or more settings for the particular video comprises determining whether the second user is included on a list for the particular video indicating that the second user may reuse it.
11 . The computer program product of claim 9 , wherein the one or more settings for the particular video are received from the first user via an interface.
12 . The computer program product of claim 9 , wherein the one or more settings for the particular video are received from the first user via a preference setting.
13 . The computer program product of claim 9 , further comprising:
receiving an indication that the second user of the social networking system is viewing the particular video.
14 . The computer program product of claim 9 , wherein the one or more settings for the particular video correspond to a default setting.
15 . The computer program product of claim 9 , wherein determining the one or more settings for the particular video comprises allowing reuse by the second user in exchange for payment, further comprising:
receiving the payment from the second user for the second user to receive access to the particular video.
16 . The computer program product of claim 15 , further comprising:
providing a user interface to the second user for providing the payment.Cited by (0)
