Modular furniture cover system

Abstract

The disclosure herein provides modular cover systems for protecting furniture and other objects. In an embodiment, a furniture protection system comprises a first cover portion comprising a front surface and a back surface interconnected by a top surface, the first cover portion configured to substantially cover a front, back, and top surface of a first furniture component; and a second cover portion comprising a front surface and a back surface interconnected by a top surface, the second cover portion configured to substantially cover a front, back, and top surface of a second furniture component, wherein a first edge of the first cover portion comprises a first releasable fastener for connecting the first cover portion to the second cover portion, and wherein a second edge of the second cover portion comprises a second releasable fastener configured to engage the first releasable.

         21 . A furniture protection system comprising:
 a first cover portion comprising a front surface and a back surface interconnected by a top surface, the first cover portion configured to substantially cover a front, back, and top surface of a first furniture component;   a second cover portion comprising a front surface and a back surface interconnected by a top surface, the second cover portion configured to substantially cover a front, back, and top surface of a second furniture component; and   a bridge panel comprising a front surface and a back surface interconnected by a top surface, the bridge panel configured to connect the first cover portion to the second cover portion,   wherein a first lateral edge of the first cover portion, formed by the front surface, back surface, and top surface of the first cover portion, comprises a first releasable fastener for connecting the first cover portion to the second cover portion or the bridge panel,   wherein a second lateral edge of the second cover portion, formed by the front surface, back surface, and top surface of the second cover portion, comprises a second releasable fastener for connecting the second cover portion to the first cover portion or the bridge panel, and   wherein the bridge panel comprises:
 a third releasable fastener configured to connect to the first releasable fastener of the first cover portion; and 
 a fourth releasable fastener configured to connect to the second releasable fastener of the second cover portion. 
   
     
     
         22 . The furniture protection system of  claim 21 , further comprising a side panel configured to substantially cover a side portion of the first furniture component, the side panel comprising a fifth releasable fastener configured to connect to the first releasable fastener. 
     
     
         23 . The furniture protection system of  claim 21 , wherein the first cover portion comprises a third lateral edge opposite the first lateral edge, the third lateral edge comprising a fifth releasable fastener. 
     
     
         24 . The furniture protection system of  claim 21 , wherein the first and second releasable fasteners form a substantially waterproof joint when connected. 
     
     
         25 . The furniture protection system of  claim 21 , wherein the first and second releasable fasteners comprise at least one of a hook and loop fastener or a zipper. 
     
     
         26 . The furniture protection system of  claim 21 , wherein, when the bridge panel is connected to the first cover portion and the second cover portion, a furniture cover assembly capable of substantially covering a rectangular shaped furniture system is formed. 
     
     
         27 . The furniture protection system of  claim 21 , wherein the second cover portion comprises a shape configured to substantially cover a front, back, and top surface of a corner furniture component of an L-shaped furniture system. 
     
     
         28 . A furniture cover system comprising:
 a first furniture cover configured to at least partially cover at least one of a top, front, or back of a first furniture component, the first furniture cover comprising a first releasable fastener positioned adjacent to a first edge;   a second furniture cover configured to at least partially cover at least one of a top, front, or back of a second furniture component, the second furniture cover comprising a second releasable fastener positioned adjacent to a second edge,   wherein the first and second furniture covers are configured to connect together, using the first and second releasable fasteners, to form a combined cover having a first length; and   a bridge panel comprising:
 a third releasable fastener configured to connect to the first releasable fastener of the first furniture cover; and 
 a fourth releasable fastener configured to connect to the second releasable fastener of the second furniture cover, 
   wherein the first furniture cover, the bridge panel, and the second furniture cover are configured to connect together, using the first, second, third, and fourth releasable fasteners, to form a combined cover having a second length, the second length being longer than the first length.   
     
     
         29 . The furniture cover system of  claim 28 , further comprising:
 a side panel dimensioned to at least partially cover a side of the first furniture component, the side panel comprising a releasable fastener configured to connect to an additional releasable fastener of the first furniture cover.   
     
     
         30 . The furniture cover system of  claim 28 , wherein the first and second releasable fasteners form a substantially waterproof joint when connected. 
     
     
         31 . The furniture cover system of  claim 28 , wherein the first and second releasable fasteners comprise at least one of a hook and loop fastener or a zipper. 
     
     
         32 . A furniture cover system comprising:
 a first furniture cover comprising:
 a front surface dimensioned to substantially cover a front portion of a piece of furniture; 
 a back surface dimensioned to substantially cover a back portion of the piece of furniture; 
 a top surface connecting the front surface and the back surface, the top surface dimensioned to substantially cover a top portion of the piece of furniture; and 
 a first connection zone disposed adjacent to at least a portion of a lateral edge formed by the front surface, back surface, and/or top surface of the first furniture cover; and 
   a bridge panel comprising:
 a front surface; 
 a back surface; 
 a top surface connecting the front surface and the back surface; and 
 a second connection zone disposed adjacent to at least a portion of a lateral edge formed by the front surface, back surface, and/or top surface of the bridge panel, 
   wherein the first connection zone is configured to couple the first furniture cover with the second connection zone of the bridge panel to form a combined cover having a length that is longer than a length of the first furniture cover alone, and   wherein the first connection zone is configured to alternatively couple the first furniture cover with a third connection zone of a second furniture cover.   
     
     
         33 . The furniture cover system of  claim 32 , wherein the first connection zone comprises a releasable fastener for coupling the first furniture cover with the bridge panel or the second furniture cover. 
     
     
         34 . The furniture cover system of  claim 32 , wherein the first furniture cover is configured to at least partially conform to the piece of furniture when coupled to the bridge panel or the second furniture cover. 
     
     
         35 . The furniture cover system of  claim 32 , wherein the top, front, and back surfaces of the first furniture cover are part of a single sheet of covering material. 
     
     
         36 . The furniture cover system of  claim 33 , wherein the releasable fastener is waterproof. 
     
     
         37 . The furniture cover system of  claim 33 , wherein the releasable fastener comprises at least one of a hook and loop fastener or a zipper. 
     
     
         38 . The furniture cover system of  claim 32 , wherein the first furniture cover further comprises:
 a third connection zone disposed adjacent to at least a portion of a second lateral edge formed by the front surface, back surface, and/or top surface of the first furniture cover, the third connection zone configured to couple the first furniture cover with an end panel to enclose the furniture cover at the third connection zone or to couple the first furniture cover with an additional furniture cover to extend the first furniture cover beyond the second lateral edge to cover an additional piece of furniture.   
     
     
         39 . The furniture cover system of  claim 38 , wherein the third connection zone is positioned opposite to the first connection zone. 
     
     
         40 . The furniture cover system of  claim 32 , further comprising the second furniture cover, wherein the third connection zone is disposed adjacent to at least a portion of a lateral edge formed by front, back, and/or top surfaces of the second furniture cover.
