. (canceled)

. A method for personalizing content implemented by a processing device, comprising:
automatically detecting an activity that is participated in by one or more users, the activity comprising a media access activity; determining a temporal identifier associated with the media access activity; creating a usage profile for the one or more users based on the activity that was automatically detected and the temporal identifier; and storing the usage profile in a storage device.

. The method as recited in claim 2 , wherein the temporal identifier identifies a time of day.

. The method as recited in claim 2 , wherein the temporal identifier identifies a day of week.

. The method as recited in claim 2 , further comprising using the usage profile to organize a listing comprised of a plurality of media access icons displayed in a display device associated with the processing device considering a time at which the listing is caused to be displayed in the display device.

. The method as recited in claim 5 , wherein using the usage profile to organize the listing comprises moving one or more of the plurality of media access icons to a corresponding one or more predetermined positions within the listing as a function of a number of times each of the plurality of media access icons was selected by a user.

. The method as recited in claim 2 , wherein automatically detecting the activity comprises automatically detecting a selection of a one of a plurality of media access icons each of which is activable to cause a transmission of a command to a controllable appliance to cause the controllable appliance to access a media corresponding an activated one of the plurality of media access icons.

. The method as recited in claim 2 , wherein the media access activity comprises an activity in which one or more of a television show and music is consumed by a user.

. A system for personalizing content, comprising:
a processing device; and a memory having stored thereon instructions executable by the processing device wherein the instructions, when executed by the processing device, cause the processing device to perform the steps of: automatically detecting an activity that is participated in by one or more users, the activity comprising a media access activity; determining a temporal identifier associated with the media access activity; creating a usage profile for the one or more users based on the activity that was automatically detected and the temporal identifier; and storing the usage profile in a storage device.

. The system as recited in claim 9 , wherein the temporal identifier identifies a time of day.

. The system as recited in claim 9 , wherein the temporal identifier identifies a day of week.

. The system as recited in claim 9 , wherein the instruction further cause the processing device perform the step of using the usage profile to organize a listing comprised of a plurality of media access icons displayed in a display device associated with the processing device considering a time at which the listing is caused to be displayed in the display device.

. The system as recited in claim 12 , wherein the step of using the usage profile to organize the listing comprises the step of moving one or more of the plurality of media access icons to a corresponding one or more predetermined positions within the listing as a function of a number of times each of the plurality of media access icons was selected by a user.

. The system as recited in claim 9 , wherein the step of automatically detecting the activity comprises the step of automatically detecting a selection of a one of a plurality of media access icons each of which is activable to cause a transmission of a command to a controllable appliance to cause the controllable appliance to access a media corresponding an activated one of the plurality of media access icons.

. The system as recited in claim 9 , wherein the media access activity comprises an activity in which one or more of a television show and music is consumed by a user.
