Dynamic summary generator

Abstract

Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for receiving a request for information about a term from a user; obtaining, at one or more processors, one or more characteristics of the user; obtaining, at the one or more processors, a template including a plurality of attributes associated with the term; generating, at the one or more processors and based on the one or more characteristics of the user, a response, the response including a respective description for each attribute of the plurality of attributes in the template; and providing for output, data representing the response.

         2 . A system comprising one or more computers and one or more computer storage media storing instructions that are operable, when executed by the one or more computers, to cause the one or more computers to perform operations comprising:
 receiving a request for information about a term from a user;   obtaining one or more characteristics of the user, including an age group of the user;   obtaining a template that includes one or more attributes associated with the term;   generating a response, the response including a respective description for each attribute of the one or more attributes in the template, wherein generating the response comprises:
 obtaining a first description for a particular attribute of the one or more attributes, wherein the first description is associated with data identifying a value that describes an age characteristic of a group of users; 
 determining, based on the data identifying the value that describes the age characteristic of the group of users and the age group of the user, that the first description should not be provided to the user; 
 generating, from the first description, a second description for the particular attribute that should be provided to the user, in response to determining that the first description should not be provided to the user; and 
 generating the response, wherein the response includes the second description for the particular attribute and not the first description for the particular attribute; and 
   responding to the request with data representing the response.   
     
     
         3 . The system of  claim 2 , wherein obtaining the template including the one or more attributes associated with the term comprises:
 selecting a template from among a plurality of templates associated with the term based on the one or more characteristics of the user.   
     
     
         4 . The system of  claim 2 , wherein determining that the first description should not be provided to the user comprises determining that the age group of the user does not satisfy the age characteristic of the group of users. 
     
     
         5 . The system of  claim 2 , wherein determining that the first description should not be provided to the user comprises determining that the age group of the user is younger than the age characteristic of the group of users. 
     
     
         6 . The system of  claim 2 , wherein obtaining a template that includes one or more attributes associated with the term comprises obtaining a template for a group to which the term belongs. 
     
     
         7 . The system of  claim 2 , wherein obtaining a template that includes one or more attributes associated with the term comprises obtaining a template specifically for the term. 
     
     
         8 . The system of  claim 2 , wherein obtaining a template that includes one or more attributes associated with the term comprises selecting the template from among multiple templates based on the age group of the user. 
     
     
         9 . The system of  claim 2 , wherein the request for information comprises a voice query and the data representing the response comprises auditory data. 
     
     
         10 . A method performed by a system comprising one or more computers, the method comprising:
 receiving a request for information about a term from a user;   obtaining one or more characteristics of the user, including an age group of the user;   obtaining a template that includes one or more attributes associated with the term;   generating a response, the response including a respective description for each attribute of the one or more attributes in the template, wherein generating the response comprises:
 obtaining a first description for a particular attribute of the one or more attributes, wherein the first description is associated with data identifying a value that describes an age characteristic of a group of users; 
 determining, based on the data identifying the value that describes the age characteristic of the group of users and the age group of the user, that the first description should not be provided to the user; 
 generating, from the first description, a second description for the particular attribute that should be provided to the user, in response to determining that the first description should not be provided to the user; and 
 generating the response, wherein the response includes the second description for the particular attribute and not the first description for the particular attribute; and 
   responding to the request with data representing the response.   
     
     
         11 . The method of  claim 10 , wherein obtaining the template including the one or more attributes associated with the term comprises:
 selecting a template from among a plurality of templates associated with the term based on the one or more characteristics of the user.   
     
     
         12 . The method of  claim 10 , wherein determining that the first description should not be provided to the user comprises determining that the age group of the user does not satisfy the age characteristic of the group of users. 
     
     
         13 . The method of  claim 10 , wherein determining that the first description should not be provided to the user comprises determining that the age group of the user is younger than the age characteristic of the group of users. 
     
     
         14 . The method of  claim 10 , wherein obtaining a template that includes one or more attributes associated with the term comprises obtaining a template for a group to which the term belongs. 
     
     
         15 . The method of  claim 10 , wherein obtaining a template that includes one or more attributes associated with the term comprises obtaining a template specifically for the term. 
     
     
         16 . The method of  claim 10 , wherein obtaining a template that includes one or more attributes associated with the term comprises selecting the template from among multiple templates based on the age group of the user. 
     
     
         17 . The method of  claim 10 , wherein the request for information comprises a voice query and the data representing the response comprises auditory data. 
     
     
         18 . A non-transitory, computer-readable medium storing software having stored thereon instructions, which, when executed by one or more computers, cause the one or more computers to perform operations comprising:
 receiving a request for information about a term from a user;   obtaining one or more characteristics of the user, including an age group of the user;   obtaining a template that includes one or more attributes associated with the term;   generating a response, the response including a respective description for each attribute of the one or more attributes in the template, wherein generating the response comprises:
 obtaining a first description for a particular attribute of the one or more attributes, wherein the first description is associated with data identifying a value that describes an age characteristic of a group of users; 
 determining, based on the data identifying the value that describes the age characteristic of the group of users and the age group of the user, that the first description should not be provided to the user; 
 generating, from the first description, a second description for the particular attribute that should be provided to the user, in response to determining that the first description should not be provided to the user; and 
 generating the response, wherein the response includes the second description for the particular attribute and not the first description for the particular attribute; and 
   responding to the request with data representing the response.   
     
     
         19 . The computer-readable medium of  claim 18 , wherein determining that the first description should not be provided to the user comprises determining that the age group of the user does not satisfy the age characteristic of the group of users. 
     
     
         20 . The computer-readable medium of  claim 18 , wherein obtaining a template that includes one or more attributes associated with the term comprises selecting the template from among multiple templates based on the age group of the user. 
     
     
         21 . The computer-readable medium of  claim 18 , wherein the request for information comprises a voice query and the data representing the response comprises auditory data.
