Virtualization of multiple distinct website hosting architectures
Abstract
A system for virtualizing service delivery of a plurality of website hosting architectures includes a first website hosting architecture that is adapted to provide a plurality of web site hosting services, a second web site hosting architecture that is adapted to also provide a plurality of website hosting services. The system further includes a service delivery layer for delivering a portion of the plurality of website hosting services from the first and second website hosting architectures, and a virtualization layer configured to abstract the service delivery layer from each of the first website hosting architecture and the second website hosting architecture.

a first website hosting architecture including at least a first server, wherein the first website hosting architecture provides a first plurality of website hosting services for a first website hosting client; a second website hosting architecture that is distinct from the first website hosting architecture and includes at least a second server, wherein the second website hosting architecture provides a second plurality of website hosting services for a second website hosting client; a service delivery layer that delivers a portion of the first plurality of website hosting services and a portion of the second plurality of website hosting services; and a virtualization layer that
abstracts the service delivery layer from the first website hosting architecture,
abstracts the service delivery layer from the second website hosting architecture, and
adapts interactions of the first and the second website hosting architectures with the service delivery layer to facilitate providing consistent website hosting services independent of the website hosting architecture from which the website hosting services are provided.
30 . The system of claim 29 , wherein the first website hosting architecture comprises a common services website hosting architecture.
31 . The system of claim 30 , wherein the first server is configured to provide a single website hosting service of the plurality of website hosting services.
32 . The system of claim 31 , wherein the first server is further configured as a member of a single-service pool of servers.
33 . The system of claim 30 , wherein the first server is configured as a member of a service pool of servers, wherein each member of the service pool of servers provides the same website hosting service.

The system of claim 29 , wherein the first website hosting architecture comprises a service pool-based website hosting architecture and the second website hosting architecture comprises at least one of a cloud computing architecture, a grid computing architecture, a virtual server computing architecture, a one box per website architecture, a one box per client architecture, and a dedicated services per website architecture.
35 . A website hosting system for hosting a plurality of websites, the system comprising:
a first website hosting architecture including at least a first server, wherein the first website hosting architecture provides a first plurality of website hosting services for a plurality of website hosting clients; a second website hosting architecture that is distinct from the first website hosting architecture and includes at least a second server, wherein the second website hosting architecture provides a second plurality of website hosting services for the plurality of website hosting clients; a service delivery layer that delivers a portion of the first plurality of website hosting services and a portion of the second plurality of website hosting services; and a virtualization layer that
abstracts the service delivery layer from the first website hosting architecture,
abstracts the service delivery layer from the second website hosting architecture, and
adapts interactions of the first and the second website hosting architectures with the service delivery layer to facilitate providing consistent website hosting services to the plurality of website hosting clients independent of the website hosting architecture from which the website hosting services are provided.
36 . The system of claim 35 , wherein the first website hosting architecture comprises a common services website hosting architecture.
