Abstract

A vehicle arresting device for rapidly disabling a moving vehicle includes a plurality of first wires and a plurality of second wires. Each second wire is coupled to each first wire. The first wires and the second wires are gridded and define a plurality of intersections. Each of a plurality of spikes, which is barbed, is coupled to and extends from a respective intersection. The spikes are configured to penetrate and couple to one or more tires of a vehicle passing over the spikes. The first wires and the second wires are rotationally compelled to entangle rotational components of the vehicle to arrest the vehicle.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A vehicle arresting device comprising:
a plurality of first wires, said first wires comprising braided steel; a plurality of second wires, said second wired comprising braided steel, each said second wire being coupled to each said first wire such that said first wires and said second wires define a grid having plurality of intersections; a plurality of spikes, said spikes being barbed, each said spike being coupled to and extending from a respective said intersection, each of said spikes extending perpendicularly from a face of said grid in a first direction; a plurality of connectors, each said connector being coupled to a respective said first wire and a respective said second wire at a respective said intersection to couple said respective said second wire to said respective said first wire, each said connector comprising a bottom tube coupled to a top tube such that said top tube and said bottom tube are perpendicularly positioned; and wherein said spikes are positioned on said intersections such that said spikes are configured for penetrating and coupling to one or more tires of a vehicle passing over said spikes, such that said first wires and said second wires are rotationally compelled to entangle rotational components of the vehicle for arresting the vehicle.

         3 . (canceled)

4 . The device of claim 1 , further including said plurality of first wires comprising one first wire, said first wire being loopedly positioned such that said first wire comprises a plurality of parallel sections, each said second wired being coupled to each said parallel section.

5 . The device of claim 4 , further including said plurality of parallel sections comprising twelve said parallel sections.

6 . The device of claim 4 , further including said second wire being loopedly positioned such that said second wire comprises a pair of parallel segments, each said parallel segment being coupled to each said parallel section.

         7 . (canceled)

         8 . (canceled)

9 . The device of claim 1 , further including said plurality of connectors comprising connectors positioned singly at each said intersection.

10 . The device of claim 1 , further including each said spike being coupled to and extending from a respective said top tube.

11 . The device of claim 1 , further including each said spike comprising a rod and a spur, said rod being coupled at a first end to said connector, said spur being coupled to said rod proximate to a second end of said rod.

12 . The device of claim 10 , further including said connectors and said spikes comprising metal.

13 . The device of claim 12 , further including said connectors and said spikes comprising steel.

         14 . A vehicle arresting device comprising:
a plurality of first wires, said first wires comprising braided steel, said plurality of first wires comprising one first wire, said first wire being loopedly positioned such that said first wire comprises a plurality of parallel sections, said plurality of parallel sections comprising twelve said parallel sections; a plurality of second wires, each said second wire being coupled to each said first wire such that said first wires and said second wires are gridded define a grid having a plurality of intersections, said second wires comprising braided steel, each said second wire being loopedly positioned such that said second wire comprises a pair of parallel segments, each said parallel segment being coupled to each said parallel section; a plurality of connectors, each said connector being coupled to a respective said first wire and a respective said second wire at a respective said intersection to couple said respective said second wire to said respective said first wire, each said connector comprising a bottom tube coupled to a top tube such that said top tube and said bottom tube are perpendicularly positioned, said plurality of connectors comprising connectors positioned singly at each said intersection, said connectors comprising metal, said connectors comprising steel; a plurality of spikes, said spikes being barbed, each said spike being coupled to and extending from a respective said intersection, each of said spikes extending perpendicularly from a face of said grid in a first direction, wherein said spikes are positioned on said intersections such that said spikes are configured for penetrating and coupling to one or more tires of a vehicle passing over said spikes, such that said first wires and said second wires are rotationally compelled to entangle rotational components of the vehicle for arresting the vehicle, said spikes comprising metal, said spikes comprising steel, each said spike being coupled to and extending from a respective said top tube, each said spike comprising a rod and a spur, said rod being coupled at a first end to said connector, said spur being coupled to said rod proximate to a second end of said rod; and wherein said spikes are positioned on said top tubes such that said spikes are configured for penetrating and coupling to the one or more tires of the vehicle passing over said spikes, such that said first wires and said second wires are rotationally compelled to entangle the rotational components of the vehicle for arresting the vehicle.
