Enclosure for noise reduction

Abstract

An enclosure comprising a box comprising walls. the box has an open front and an open bottom. The open bottom comprises three closed sides. An acoustic absorbing material affixed to an inside portion of a wall of the box. The enclosure may prevent the escape of light or sound from escaping the enclosure. The enclosure may include additional accessories like a light source, a sound source, a power source, a display source, etc. . . . .

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . An enclosure comprising:
 a box comprising walls, wherein the box has an open front and an open bottom, wherein the open bottom comprises three closed sides;   an acoustic absorbing material affixed to an inside portion of a wall of the box;   wherein the enclosure prevents the escape of light or sound from escaping the enclosure.   
     
     
         2 . The enclosure of  claim 1 , wherein the box is in a rectangular shape, domed shape, tent like shape, half cylinder shape, and the like. 
     
     
         3 . The enclosure of  claim 1 , wherein the walls of the box are made of laminated composite wood panels: medium density fiberboard (MDF), plywood, and particle board;
 cardboard; foam; and polymer.   
     
     
         4 . The enclosure of  claim 1 , wherein the acoustic absorbing material is permanently affixed to at least one wall of the enclosure. 
     
     
         5 . The enclosure of  claim 1 , wherein the acoustic absorbing material is removably affixed to at least one wall of the enclosure. 
     
     
         6 . The enclosure of  claim 1 , wherein the acoustic absorbing material comprises bonded acoustical cotton (B.A.C.), mass loaded vinyl (MLV), or polyurethane acoustical foam. 
     
     
         7 . The enclosure of  claim 1 , comprising a rear support, wherein the rear support extends from the bottom of the rear wall. 
     
     
         8 . The enclosure of  claim 1 , comprising a side base piece that each border the walls on the three closed sides of the open bottom and a rear base piece that borders the rear support. 
     
     
         9 . The enclosure of  claim 8 , wherein the base pieces have a thickness wider than that of the walls. 
     
     
         10 . The enclosure of  claim 1 , comprising a lifting means selected from a flush mounted hinged handle, a hand hole, a strap, a ledge, and a groove; wherein the lifting means is provided on one or more walls of the enclosure. 
     
     
         11 . The enclosure of  claim 1 , wherein the outer surface of the walls is covered with a treatment selected from a paint, a stain, an upholstery, a wood veneer, and a vinyl wrap. 
     
     
         12 . The enclosure of  claim 1 , comprising attachments selected from a power source, a light source, a display source, and a sound source. 
     
     
         13 . The enclosure of  claim 1 , wherein the enclosure is attached to a bed and the sound source is a snore from a user sleeping on the bed. 
     
     
         14 . The enclosure of  claim 1 , wherein the volume of noise escaping the enclosure is reduced by about 39 percent when bonded cotton acoustic material having a thickness of about 1 inch is used. 
     
     
         15 . An enclosure comprising:
 a box comprising walls, wherein the box has an open front and an open bottom, wherein the open bottom comprises three closed sides;   an acoustic absorbing material affixed to an inside portion of a wall of the box;   an accessory attached to an inside portion of the enclosure, wherein the accessory comprises an LED light, a fan, a smartphone holder, a clock, a table holder, or a device charger.   
     
     
         16 . The enclosure of  claim 15 , wherein the accessory is fixed with a removable attachment means selected form a clip, hook and loop material, a bracket, snaps, and a quick release fastener. 
     
     
         17 . An enclosure comprising:
 a box comprising walls, wherein the box has an open front and an open bottom, wherein the open bottom comprises three closed sides;   an acoustic absorbing edging affixed around the open front of the box;   an accessory attached to an inside portion of the enclosure, wherein the accessory comprises an LED light, a fan, a smartphone holder, a clock, a table holder, or a device charger.   
     
     
         18 . The enclosure of  claim 17 , wherein an acoustic absorbing material is affixed to an inside portion of a wall of the box. 
     
     
         19 . The enclosure of  claim 18 , wherein the acoustic absorbing material is textured acoustical foam. 
     
     
         20 . The enclosure of  claim 1 , wherein the enclosure partially covers the user.
