Abstract

Systems and methods are described herein for extrapolating trends in trust scores. A trust score may reflect the trustworthiness, reputation, membership, status, and/or influence of the entity in a particular community or in relation to another entity. An entity's trust score may be calculated based on data from a variety of data sources, and this data may be updated periodically as data is updated and new data becomes available. However, it may be difficult to update a trust score for an entity due to a scarcity of information. The trust score for such entities may be updated based on trends observed for the updated trust scores of other entities over a similar period of time. In this manner, trust scores may be updated for entities for which updated data is not available.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . (canceled)

         2 . A method, comprising:
receiving, by a device comprising a processor at a first time, a first trust score for a first entity determined by a server device, wherein the first trust score reflects a first degree of trustworthiness of the first entity; requesting, by the device from the server device, an updated trust score for the first entity at a second time subsequent to the first time; and receiving, by the device from the server device, the updated trust score based on the requesting, wherein the updated trust score was determined by the server device by retrieving, from one or more network accessible databases, second trust scores for a second entity determined over a period of time between the first time and the second time, determining a degree of change in the second trust scores, and determining the updated trust score based on the first trust score and the degree of change in the second trust score.

3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein based on the requesting, the server device determines whether the first trust score is outdated, and wherein the server device determines the updated trust score based on a determination that the first trust score is outdated.

4 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the second trust scores for the second entity reflect a second degree of trustworthiness of the second entity.

5 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the first trust score was determined by the server device based on a weighted combination of component scores respectively determined for different components of the first trust score, and wherein the component scores were determined based on data associated with the first entity and the different components from disparate network accessible data sources.

6 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the degree of change in the second trust scores reflects an average amount of increase or decrease in the second trust scores over the period of time.

7 . The method of claim 2 , wherein prior to the receiving, the server device selected the second entity based on the second entity being determined to be related to the first entity based on at least one network path that connects the first entity and the second entity in a computing network by less than a threshold number of links.

8 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising:
providing, by the device, activity information identifying an activity to be performed by the first entity at a future point in time, and wherein the server device selects the second entity based on a determination that the second entity previously performed the activity.

9 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising:
providing, by the device, attribute information identifying an attribute of the first entity, and wherein the server device selects the second entity based on a determination that the second entity is associated with the attribute.

10 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the device is associated with a third entity and wherein the first degree of trustworthiness of the first entity reflects a measure of trust the third entity could attribute to the first entity.

11 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising:
rendering, by the device, a representation of the updated trust score in a graphical user interface displayed at the device.

         12 . A device, comprising:
a processor, and a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processor, facilitate performance of operations, comprising:
 receiving, at a first time, a first trust score for a first entity determined by a server device, wherein the first trust score reflects a first degree of trustworthiness of the first entity;
sending a request to the server device for an updated trust score for the first entity at a second time subsequent to the first time; and
receiving the updated trust score from the server device based on the sending the request,
wherein prior to the receiving, the server device retrieved, from one or more network accessible databases, second trust scores for a second entity determined over a period of time between the first time and the second time, determined a degree of change in the second trust scores, and determined the updated trust score based on the first trust score and the degree of change in the second trust score.

13 . The device of claim 12 , wherein based on the requesting, the server device determines whether the first trust score is outdated, and wherein the server device determines the updated trust score based on a determination that the first trust score is outdated.

14 . The device of claim 12 , wherein the second trust scores for the second entity reflect a second degree of trustworthiness of the second entity.

15 . The device of claim 12 , wherein the first trust score was determined by the server device based on a weighted combination of component scores respectively determined for different components of the first trust score, and wherein the component scores were determined based on data associated with the first entity and the different components from disparate network accessible data sources.

16 . The device of claim 12 , wherein the degree of change in the second trust scores reflects an average amount of increase or decrease in the second trust scores over the period of time.

17 . The device of claim 12 , wherein prior to the receiving, the server device selected the second entity based on the second entity being determined to be related to the first entity based on at least one network path that connects the first entity and the second entity in a computing network by less than a threshold number of links.

18 . The device of claim 12 , wherein the operations further comprise:
providing activity information in association with the request, the activity information identifying an activity to be performed by the first entity at a future point in time, and wherein the server device selects the second entity based on a determination that the second entity previously performed the activity.

19 . The device of claim 12 , wherein the operations further comprise:
providing attribute information in association with the request identifying an attribute of the first entity, and wherein the server device the selects the second entity based on a determination that the second entity is associated with the attribute.

20 . A machine-readable storage medium, comprising executable instructions that, when executed by a processor of a device, facilitate performance of operations, comprising:
receiving, at a first time, a first trust score for a first entity determined by a server device, wherein the first trust score reflects a first degree of trustworthiness of the first entity; requesting, at a second time after the first time, an updated trust score for the first entity; and receiving the updated trust score based on the requesting, wherein prior to the receiving, the server device retrieved, from one or more network accessible databases, second trust scores for a second entity determined over a period of time between the first time and the second time, determined trend information regarding a degree of change in the second trust scores, and determined the updated trust score based on the first trust score and the trend information.

21 . The machine-readable storage medium of claim 20 , wherein based on the requesting, the server device determines whether the first trust score is outdated, and wherein the server device determines the updated trust score based on a determination that the first trust score is outdated.
