Abstract

In some embodiments, a method determines characteristics of a user that is viewing a video and analyzes presentation data describing products within a presentation. A product opportunity is selected based on the characteristics of the user and the presentation data for a product. The method selects first metadata for the presentation data and second metadata for the product associated with the presentation data. Then, the method dynamically inserts the first metadata for the presentation data and second metadata for the product into a portion of the video and sends the portion of the video to the user. The product is displayed in the video using the presentation data at the product opportunity.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A method comprising:
determining, by a computing device, one or more characteristics of a user that is viewing a video; analyzing, by the computing device, presentation data describing products within a presentation; selecting, by the computing device, a product opportunity based on the one or more characteristics of the user and the presentation data for a product; selecting, by the computing device, first metadata for the presentation data and second metadata for the product associated with the presentation data; dynamically inserting, by the computing device, the first metadata for the presentation data and second metadata for the product into a portion of the video; and sending, by the computing device, the portion of the video to the user, wherein the product is displayed in the video using the presentation data at the product opportunity.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the second metadata describes information regarding the appearance of the product in the video.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the second metadata includes product data that describes the product.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the product opportunity is targeted to the user specifically.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the product opportunity is targeted to the video.

6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
receiving a response from the display of the product in the video, the response describing an interaction of the user with the product.

7 . The method of claim 6 , further comprising:
wherein the response is received via a voice activated system.

8 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
receiving a response from the display of the product in the video, the response is a request to purchase the product.

9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first metadata describes instructions to a client device on how to display the product in the video.

10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein dynamically inserting the first metadata for the presentation data and second metadata for the product into the portion of a video comprises:
inserting the first metadata and the second metadata into a live video.

11 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the live video comprises a live sporting event.

12 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the characteristics of the user comprises a location of the user that is used to select the product opportunity.

13 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first metadata and the second metadata include machine readable codes used in the decoding of the video to display the product in the portion of the video.

14 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first metadata for the presentation data describes an identification of the product in the portion of the video.

15 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first metadata for the presentation data describes a visual location in the portion of video to display the product.

16 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first metadata for the presentation data is used to modify the display of the portion of the video to display the product.

17 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium containing instructions, that when executed, control a computer system to be configured for:
determining one or more characteristics of a user that is viewing a video; analyzing presentation data describing products within a presentation; selecting a product opportunity based on the one or more characteristics of the user and the presentation data for a product; selecting first metadata for the presentation data and second metadata for the product associated with the presentation data; dynamically inserting the first metadata for the presentation data and second metadata for the product into a portion of the video; and sending the portion of the video to the user, wherein the product is displayed in the video using the presentation data at the product opportunity.

18 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 17 , wherein dynamically inserting the first metadata for the presentation data and second metadata for the product into the portion of a video comprises:
inserting the first metadata and the second metadata into a live video.

19 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 18 , wherein the live video comprises a live sporting event.

         20 . An apparatus comprising:
one or more computer processors; and a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium comprising instructions, that when executed, control the one or more computer processors to be configured for: determining one or more characteristics of a user that is viewing a video; analyzing presentation data describing products within a presentation; selecting a product opportunity based on the one or more characteristics of the user and the presentation data for a product; selecting first metadata for the presentation data and second metadata for the product associated with the presentation data; dynamically inserting the first metadata for the presentation data and second metadata for the product into a portion of the video; and sending the portion of the video to the user, wherein the product is displayed in the video using the presentation data at the product opportunity.
