Abstract

The present disclosure is directed at a method and apparatus for providing a network connected low voltage lighting system. In one embodiment, the disclosure may be seen as an Internet of Things (loT) network connected low voltage lighting system.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . An apparatus for interfacing with peripherals and sensors comprising:
a wireless communication interface for communicating with a lighting network control (LNC) module or an Internet of Things (loT) gateway; an apparatus for receiving peripheral data from a set of peripheral devices; at least one embedded sensor for obtaining sensor data; and a controller including a data communication conversion apparatus for converting to peripheral and sensor device data communication methods to a wireless communication transmission methods.

2 . The apparatus of claim 1 further comprising:
a data storage for storing sensor data.

3 . The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the controller further comprises an address mapping apparatus to assign an address or identification code for each of the set of peripheral devices.

4 . The apparatus of claim 1 further comprising apparatus for connecting to a cable management apparatus.

5 . The apparatus of claim 4 wherein the cable management apparatus comprises:
 a set of input power ports;
a set of output power ports; and
a protection and detection apparatus to detector reverse polarity wiring.

6 . The apparatus of claim 1 further comprising a programming port.

7 . The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the apparatus for receiving peripheral data is a set of peripheral ports.

8 . The apparatus of claim 1 further comprising a set of sensor ports.

9 . The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the controller prioritizes the sensor data for immediate or delayed transmission.

10 . The apparatus of claim 1 further comprising a dimming apparatus for communicating lighting fixture information to the controller.

11 . The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the wireless communication interface comprises an apparatus for communicating with a handheld communication device.

12 . The apparatus for claim 11 wherein the wireless communication interface receives handheld communication device location information or trend analysis information.

13 . The apparatus of claim 12 wherein the controller determines lighting and/or environmental parameters based on the trend analysis information.

14 . The apparatus of claim 1 further comprising mounting apparatus for mounting the apparatus to a wall or a ceiling.

15 . The apparatus of claim 7 wherein the set of peripheral ports are connected to at least one of a dimmer, a video monitoring device or a video recording device.
