Removable chin strap for a hat's brim

Abstract

A hat having a removable chin strap for the hat's brim. The flexible strap has end pieces connected to its ends. The strap also has a strap position lock device. Additionally, the strap includes an attachment clip that can be utilized for connecting the strap to the wearer's clothing. In one preferred embodiment the attachment clip is an alligator clip. In another preferred embodiment the attachment clip is a hook clip. Also, in a preferred embodiment the hat's brim includes a plurality of slots and the flexible strap is inserted through the slots and retained to the brim by the end pieces.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A hat having a removable chin strap for a hat's brim, said removable chin strap comprising:
 (A) a flexible strap having two ends,   (B) a plurality of end pieces, each end piece connected to one of said two ends,   (C) a strap position lock device, and   (D) an attachment clip for attaching said flexible strap to clothing.   
     
     
         2 . The hat as in  claim 1 , wherein said attachment clip is an alligator clip. 
     
     
         3 . The hat as in  claim 1 , wherein said brim comprises a plurality of slots for receiving said flexible strap, wherein said plurality of end pieces retains said flexible strap connected to said brim. 
     
     
         4 . The hat as in  claim 1 , wherein said attachment clip is a hook clip. 
     
     
         5 . The hat as in  claim 1 , wherein said strap position lock device is a spring-loaded stop cord lock. 
     
     
         6 . The hat as in  claim 1 , wherein said brim comprises a winged visor stiffener for said brim, said winged visor stiffener comprising:
 (A) a flat horizontal front section formed into said stiffener,   (B) two angled offset sections formed into said stiffener and connected to said flat front section, and   (C) two flat horizontal wings formed into said stiffener, each said flat horizontal wing connected to one of said angled offset sections so that said two angled offset sections are sandwiched between said flat horizontal front section and said two flat horizontal wings,   wherein said winged visor stiffener is sewn into said brim via a plurality of rows of tight stitching and wherein said winged visor stiffener provides protection to the wearer's face, optimizes peripheral vision, and prevents said brim from flopping up and down at said flat horizontal front section, said two angled offset sections, and said two flat horizontal wings.
