Abstract

A stored value card activation system includes a server in communication with one or more computing devices configured in kiosks. The server receives stored value card type information associated with one of multiple non-activated stored value cards from the computing device. The server also receives monetary amount information to be associated with the selected stored value card from the kiosk, and payment information from a user of the kiosk. From this information, the server conducts a financial transaction with a financial account server associated with an account of the user, and activates the selected stored value card in accordance with the financial transaction.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
We claim:

1 . A system for providing a receipt for a consumer at a kiosk, comprising:
a user interface configured to receive, from a user, information associated with a selection of a consumer item; a financial account server associated with an account of the user for receiving payment instructions from the user for conducting a financial transaction; a printer for printing the receipt associated with the financial transaction, wherein the receipt includes a machine-readable indicia storing information for obtaining the consumer item selected by the user at a time later than when the financial transaction was conducted.

         2 . The method of claim 1 ,
wherein the consumer item comprises a stored value card, and wherein the machine-readable indicia comprises at least one of a bar code and a quick response (QR) code.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the consumer item comprises a subscription to a service.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the receipt includes customized content comprising bonus points associated with the consumer item.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the consumer item comprises downloadable content (DLC).

6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the downloadable content comprises a video game.

7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the downloadable content comprises bonus points to be applied to the video game.

8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the consumer item is a physical item and the consumer is a third party.

9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the information associated with the selection of the consumer item is received via the user interface on a touchscreen display configured on the kiosk.

10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the kiosk is configured with pockets for storing items that are purchasable via interaction with the graphical user interface presented on the touchscreen display.

10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the kiosk is configured to be mounted on a wall.

11 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the kiosk is configured to be mounted on a countertop.

13 . One or more non-transitory computer-readable media storing computer-executable instructions which, when executed by a processor perform a method of providing a receipt for a consumer at a kiosk, comprising the steps of:
receiving information associated with a selection of a consumer item at the kiosk; receiving payment information from a user for conducting a financial transaction with a financial account server associated with an account of the user at the kiosk; and printing, via a printer configured on the kiosk, the receipt that includes customizable content, wherein the customizable content is customizable via a user input disposed on the kiosk, wherein the receipt is usable by the consumer to obtain the consumer item at a time later than when the transaction was conducted.

         14 . The medium of claim 13 ,
wherein the payment information is received via a magnetic card reader, and wherein the consumer is a third party.

15 . The medium of claim 13 , wherein the payment information is received via near field communication.

16 . The medium of claim 13 , wherein the information associated with the selection of the consumer item is received via a touchscreen display.

17 . The medium of claim 16 , wherein the receipt further includes a machine-readable indicia comprising at least one of a bar code and a quick response (QR) code for obtaining the consumer item at a time later than when the transaction was conducted.

18 . The medium of claim 17 , wherein the receipt further includes downloadable content, downloadable through a server associated with the kiosk.

19 . The medium of claim 18 , wherein the downloadable content is accessible on a user interface presented on the touchscreen display.

20 . One or more non-transitory computer-readable media storing computer-executable instructions which, when executed by a processor perform a method of providing a receipt for a consumer at a kiosk, comprising the steps of:
receiving information associated with a selection of a consumer item at the kiosk, wherein the selection of the consumer item is received via a user interface displayed on a touchscreen display configured on the kiosk, wherein the consumer item is disposed within a kiosk housing configured on the kiosk; receiving, using the instructions, payment information from the user for conducting a financial transaction with a financial account server associated with an account of the user; and printing, using the instructions, the receipt that includes a machine-readable indicia storing information for obtaining the consumer item selected.
