Abstract

In a case where the printing of a plurality of copies based on an original image is to be executed by causing a feeding stage which is set for each of the plurality of copies to perform feeding, a feed operation is controlled so as to stop feeding from a feeding stage which serves as a feed target when a sheet attribute designated in a job and a sheet attribute set in the feeding stage are different from each other.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . An image forming apparatus comprising:
 an execution unit configured to execute printing of a plurality of copies based on an original image by causing a feeding stage set for each of the plurality of copies to perform feeding; and   a control unit configured to control a feed operation so as to stop feeding from the feeding stage in a case where a sheet attribute designated in a job for executing the printing of the plurality of copies by the execution unit and a sheet attribute set in a feeding stage which serves as a feed target are different from each other.   
     
     
         2 . The apparatus according to  claim 1 , wherein the sheet attribute is a size,
 the apparatus further comprises a determination unit configured to determine, in a case where a size designated in the job and a size designated in the feeding stage which serves as the feed target are different from each other, whether the original image will be partially absent due to the size difference if the feeding is executed, and   the control unit stops feeding from the feeding stage which serves as the feed target in a case where the determination unit determines that the original image will be partially absent.   
     
     
         3 . The apparatus according to  claim 2 , wherein the control unit performs feeding from the feeding stage which serves as the feed target when the determination unit determines that the original image will not be partially absent. 
     
     
         4 . The apparatus according to  claim 3 , wherein the determination unit determines that the original image will not be partially absent in a case where the size set in the feeding stage which serves as the feed target is larger than the size designated by the job. 
     
     
         5 . The apparatus according to  claim 2 , further comprising:
 a setting unit configured to set whether to perform control by the control unit in accordance with a determination result from the determination unit.   
     
     
         6 . The apparatus according to  claim 5 , wherein the setting unit sets whether to perform control in accordance with the determination result from the determination unit based on a setting made from a user interface screen. 
     
     
         7 . The apparatus according to  claim 1 , further comprising:
 a notification unit configured to perform, in a case where the feeding from the feeding stage has been stopped by the control unit, notification of setting of sheets which have the sheet attribute designated in the job to the feeding stage.   
     
     
         8 . The apparatus according to  claim 1 , further comprising:
 a feeding stage setting unit configured to set a feeding stage for each of the plurality of copies.   
     
     
         9 . The apparatus according to  claim 8 , wherein the feeding stage setting unit sets a feeding stage which is to be used for printing a printed product as an original copy and a plurality of feeding stages each of which is to be used for printing a printed product as a duplicate copy, an instruction to execute the printing of the plurality of copies is set as an attribute of the job in the job for executing the printing of the plurality of copies, and the job is received from an external apparatus via a network. 
     
     
         10 . An image forming apparatus comprising:
 an execution unit configured to execute printing of a plurality of copies based on an original image by causing a feeding stage set for each of the plurality copies to perform feeding; and   a control unit configured to control a feed operation so as to perform feeding from the feeding stage upon scaling the original image in a case where a sheet attribute designated in a job for executing the printing of the plurality of copies by the execution unit and a sheet attribute set in a feeding stage which serves as a feed target are different from each other.   
     
     
         11 . The apparatus according to  claim 10 , wherein the sheet attribute is a size, and
 in a case where a size designated in the job is larger than a size designated in the feeding stage which serves as the feed target, the control unit performs feeding from the feeding stage upon reducing the size of the original image.   
     
     
         12 . The apparatus according to  claim 10 , wherein in a case where a size designated in the job is smaller than a size designated in the feeding stage which serves as the feed target, the control unit performs feeding from the feeding stage upon enlarging the size of the original image. 
     
     
         13 . The apparatus according to  claim 10 , further comprising:
 a first scaling setting unit configured to set whether to perform scaling on the original image by the control unit.   
     
     
         14 . The apparatus according to  claim 13 , further comprising:
 a second scaling setting unit configured to set whether to permit respective of enlargement and reduction of the original image in a case where the setting to perform scaling on the original image has been made by the first scaling setting unit.   
     
     
         15 . The apparatus according to  claim 14 , wherein the first scaling setting unit and the second scaling setting unit perform setting based on a setting from a user interface screen. 
     
     
         16 . The apparatus according to  claim 13 , wherein in a case where the setting not to perform scaling on the original image has been made by the first scaling setting unit, the control unit stops the feeding from the feeding stage which serves as the feed target. 
     
     
         17 . The apparatus according to  claim 1 , further comprising:
 a notification unit configured to perform, in a case where the feeding from the feeding stage has been stopped by the control unit, notification of setting of sheets which have the sheet attribute designated in the job to the feeding stage.   
     
     
         18 . The apparatus according to  claim 10 , further comprising:
 a feeding stage setting unit configured to set a feeding stage for each of the plurality of copies.   
     
     
         19 . The apparatus according to  claim 18 , wherein the feeding stage setting unit sets a feeding stage which is to be used for printing a printed product as an original copy and a plurality of feeding stages each of which is to be used for printing a printed product as a duplicate copy, an instruction to execute the printing of the plurality of copies is set as an attribute of the job in the job for executing the printing of the plurality of copies, and the job is received from an external apparatus via a network. 
     
     
         20 . A control method that is executed in an image forming apparatus, the method comprising:
 executing printing of a plurality of copies based on an original image by causing a feeding stage set for each of the plurality copies to perform feeding; and   controlling a feed operation so as to stop feeding from the feeding stage when a sheet attribute designated in a job in the executing of the printing of the plurality of copies and a sheet attribute set in a feeding stage which serves as a feed target are different from each other.   
     
     
         21 . An image forming apparatus that processes a print job in which a setting to output a plurality of copies of printed products that include one predetermined printed product and a printed product which serves as a duplicate copy of the predetermined printed product, comprising:
 a control unit configured to control a print output of the plurality of copies of the printed product by allowing feeding to be performed from different feeding stages in accordance with the setting; and   a control unit configured to control, when a sheet attribute set to be used in print processing of the print job and a sheet attribute set in a feeding stage which serves as a feed target are different from each other in a case where the one predetermined product is to be processed, a feed operation so as to stop feeding from the feeding stage, and to control, even when the sheet attribute set to be used in print processing of the print job and the sheet attribute set in the feeding stage which serves as the feed target are different from each other in a case where the printed product which serves as the duplicate copy of the predetermined printed product is to be processed, a feed operation so that feeding from the feeding stage will be continued in accordance with the satisfaction of a predetermined printing condition.
