Abstract

Described herein are compounds and pharmaceutical compositions useful for treating inflammatory diseases.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A compound of the formula

         or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein:
 R 1  is in each instance independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, acyl, and alkyl, cycloalkyl, heteroalkyl, heterocyclyl, heterocyclylalkyl, heterocyclylheteroalkyl aryl, arylalkyl, and arylheteroalkyl, each of which is optionally substituted; or R 1  are taken together with the attached nitrogen to form an optionally substituted heterocycle or optionally substituted heteroaryl; or R 1  are taken together with the attached nitrogen to form azido;
 R 5  is in each instance independently hydrogen, alkyl, alkenyl, or alkynyl;
 R a is an amino saccharide, wherein at least one amino group is not dimethylamino; and
 W is H or F;
 X is alkylene, heteroalkylene, a divalent carbocycle, or a divalent heterocycle, each of which is optionally substituted;
 Y taken together with the attached carbon forms a carbonyl, imine, oxime, or hydrazone, or Y represents H, OR 5 ; and
 Z taken together with the attached carbon forms a carbonyl, imine, oxime, or hydrazone, or Z represents Z a , OR b , where Z a is H; and R b is hydrogen, acyl, or a saccharide, or alkyl or arylalkyl, each of which is optionally substituted.

         2 .- 20 . (canceled)

         21 . The compound of  claim 1  wherein R a  is a desosamine derivative.

         22 . The compound of claim 21 wherein R a is a radical of the formula

         where R N1  is hydrogen or optionally substituted C 2 -C 24  alkyl; and R N2  is hydrogen, optionally substituted C 1 -C 24  alkyl, or optionally substituted C 3 -C 24  cycloalkyl.

         23 . The compound of  claim 22  wherein R N2  is optionally substituted C 1 -C 24  alkyl.

         24 . The compound of  claim 22  wherein R N2  is optionally substituted C 1 -C 6  alkyl.

         25 . The compound of  claim 22  wherein R N2  is optionally substituted C 3 -C 24  cycloalkyl.

         26 . The compound of  claim 22  wherein R N2  is optionally substituted C 3 -C 8  cycloalkyl.

         27 . The compound of claim 21 wherein R a is a radical of the formula

         where R N1 is hydrogen or alkyl.

         28 . The compound of  claim 1  wherein R 5  is alkyl.

         29 . The compound of claim 1 wherein X is alkylene.

         30 . The compound of claim 1 wherein Y taken together with the attached carbon forms a carbonyl.

         31 . The compound of claim 1 wherein Z represents Z a , OR b , where Z a is H; and R b is hydrogen, acyl, or a saccharide, or alkyl or arylalkyl, each of which is optionally substituted.

         32 . The compound of  claim 31  wherein Z a  is H; and R b  is a saccharide.

         33 . The compound of claim 1 wherein Z taken together with the attached carbon forms a carbonyl.
