Claims

Abstract

A speaker system is removably attached to a cellular telephone or telephone case to augment or supplant audio output of the phone. In one example, the system includes a protective telephone case with built in speakers. The attachment mechanism may alternatively or additionally be used as a universal attachment for cellular telephone accessories. The system may include a fastening mechanism configured to attach any accessory to a phone surface.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A speaker system comprising: a selectively attachable fastener, having a top, a bottom and a side; a housing comprising speaker circuitry, and comprising a receiving structure to selectively receive said fastener; and a wireless receiver; said fastener capable of selective attachment on the bottom side, and the top and sides of the selectively attachable fastener engaging with the receiving structure within the housing for selective attachment of the housing to the fastener; wherein the wireless receiver may be configured to receive a wireless signal to receive an audio signal from an electronic device. 
     
     
         2 . The speaker system of  claim 1 , wherein the bottom side of the fastener comprises magnetic attachment. 
     
     
         3 . The speaker system of  claim 1 , wherein the bottom side of the fastener comprises an adhesive. 
     
     
         4 . The speaker system of  claim 1 , wherein the system further comprises memory positioned within the housing. 
     
     
         5 . The speaker system of  claim 1 , wherein the wireless signal is selected from one of Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and satellite signals. 
     
     
         6 . The speaker system of  claim 1 , wherein the housing includes first and second surfaces that form an acute angle. 
     
     
         7 . The speaker system of  claim 1 , wherein said receiving structure engaging with the side surface of the fastener. 
     
     
         8 . The speaker system of  claim 7 , wherein the housing comprises a quick-release button for engaging and disengaging the receiving structure. 
     
     
         9 . An apparatus comprising: a fastener having a top, a bottom, and a side; a housing, said housing comprising speaker circuitry; a receiver within said housing configured to receive a wireless signal to receive an audio signal from an electronic device; said housing comprising a receiving structure in the bottom of said housing to receive said fastener; wherein said receiving structure in said housing comprises a releasable securement mechanism to selectively secure said fastener to said housing. 
     
     
         10 . The apparatus of  claim 9  comprising a quick-release button on said housing for engaging and disengaging the releasable securement mechanism. 
     
     
         11 . The apparatus of  claim 9 , wherein the fastener is coin shaped, having on the bottom side a selectively attachable component for securing the bottom side to a surface. 
     
     
         12 . The apparatus of  claim 11 , wherein the selectively attachable component is magnetic. 
     
     
         13 . The apparatus of  claim 11 , wherein the selectively attachable component is an adhesive. 
     
     
         14 . The apparatus of  claim 9 , wherein the system further comprises memory positioned within the housing. 
     
     
         15 . The apparatus of  claim 9 , wherein the wireless signal is selected from one of Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and satellite signals. 
     
     
         16 . The apparatus of  claim 9 , wherein the housing includes first and second surfaces that form an acute angle. 
     
     
         17 . A speaker system comprising a housing, said housing comprising speaker circuitry, a receiver for receiving a wireless signal to receive an audio signal from an electronic device; said housing comprising a recess disposed of within a bottom face of said housing and comprising within said recess a releasable securement mechanism; and a fastener having a side, top, and a bottom, said fastener having the shape and size to be received within the recess of said housing; and wherein the releasable securement mechanism engages with a side and top of said fastener; and a quick-release button for engaging and disengaging the releasable securement mechanism within said housing. 
     
     
         18 . The speaker system of  claim 17 , wherein said fastener is coin shaped, and having on a bottom face of said coin a selectively attachable component which is magnetic or adhesive. 
     
     
         19 . The speaker system of  claim 17 , comprising memory positioned within the housing. 
     
     
         20 . The speaker system of  claim 17 , wherein said receive is configured to receive at least one of Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and satellite signals, said signals being amplified by an amplifier within said housing and wherein control of the amplified sound may be controlled by an equalizer.
