Holster system for attaching a telematics device

Abstract

Disclosed herein are apparatuses, systems, methods, and machine readable media for activating a portable camera in response to the activity of a firearm, and for implementing and using a system for identifying an individual who discharged a firearm, and for recording, assessing, identifying, and transmitting information related to the firing of a firearm, and for monitoring the status of an implement at a mount, and for using a charging device for delivering electrical power to components of a firearm. A communications channel may be established between a firearm telematics sensor and a video camera, sometimes by means of intermediary devices. A communications channel may be established between a mount (e.g., holster) telematics device and local and/or remote monitoring service components, sometimes by means of intermediary devices. When the telematics sensor detects that its associated firearm is removed from its holster, or in motion, or being discharged, it may signal the camera to initiate recording. When the telematics device detects that its associated firearm is removed from its holster, the change in status can be reported to the local and/or remote system.

         3 . A system, comprising:
 a holster configured to receive a firearm;   an interposer attached to the holster using three screws and configured to secure the holster to an attachment site on a utility belt;   a telematics device disposed within the interposer and configured to transmit, via a wireless communication channel, holsterings and unholsterings of the firearm into and from the holster.   
     
     
         4 . The system of  claim 3 , wherein the interposer comprises three screw holes for receiving screws to attach the holster to the attachment site of the utility belt. 
     
     
         5 . The system of  claim 3 , wherein the interposer attaches the telematics device so that it is held adjacent to the barrel of the firearm or the slide of the firearm when the firearm is holstered in the holster. 
     
     
         6 . The system of  claim 3 , wherein the interposer attaches the telematics device so that a port of the telematics device is exposed. 
     
     
         7 . The system of  claim 3 , wherein the holster further comprises a holster attachment site using three screw holes for receiving screws to attach the interposer to the holster. 
     
     
         8 . The system of  claim 3 , wherein the holster is off-the-shelf.
