System and method for managing shipping of electronic devices with customer personal information

Abstract

A shipping system and method for managing shipping of electronic devices with customer personal information. One or more electronic devices are scanned prior to shipping to a destination. A determination is made whether the one or more electronic devices include customer personal information in response to the scanning. An identification and metadata of the one or more electronic devices are recorded in response to determining the customer personal information is include don the one or more electronic devices. The one or more electronic devices are prevented from shipping by stopping generation of a shipping label for the one or more electronic devices.

What is claimed: 
     
         1 . A method for managing shipping of electronic devices with customer personal information (CPI), the method comprising:
 scanning one or more electronic devices prior to shipping to a destination;   determining whether the one or more electronic devices include CPI in response to the scanning;   recording an identification and metadata of the one or more electronic devices in response to determining CPI is included on the one or more electronic devices; and   preventing the one or more electronic devices from shipping by stopping generation of a shipping label for the one or more electronic devices.   
     
     
         2 . The method according to  claim 1 , further comprising:
 recording the identification and metadata for the one or more electronic devices to a database in response to determining the CPI was included on the one or more electronic devices; and   removing the CPI from the one or more electronic devices.   
     
     
         3 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein the identification and metadata is recorded for the one or more electronic devices to physically and electronically quarantine the one or more electronic devices until the removal of the CPI from the one or more electronic devices is verified. 
     
     
         4 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein a quarantine record is associated with the identification of the one or more electronic devices in response to determining CPI is included on the one or more electronic devices. 
     
     
         5 . The method according to  claim 1 , further comprising:
 displaying an alert in response to determining the one or more electronic devices include CPI.   
     
     
         6 . The method according to  claim 1 , further comprising:
 performing analysis to determine why the one or more electronic devices include CPI.   
     
     
         7 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein the one or more electronic devices are tested simultaneously to determine whether the one or more electronic devices include CPI. 
     
     
         8 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein an operator is prompted to perform a plurality of steps utilizing the shipping system to determine whether the one or more electronic devices include CPI. 
     
     
         9 . The method according to  claim 1 , further comprising:
 quarantining foe one or more electronic devices in response to determining CPI is included on the one or more electronic devices.   
     
     
         10 . A computer implemented method for managing shipping of electronic devices with customer personal information (CPI), the method comprising:
 scanning a plurality of electronic devices prior to shipping to a destination;   determining whether each of the plurality of electronic devices include CPI in response to the scanning;   recording at least an identification of one of the plurality of electronic devices in response to determining CPI is included on the one of the plurality of electronic devices; and   rejecting the one of plurality of electronic devices from shipping by preventing generation of a shipping label for the one the plurality of electronic devices.   
     
     
         11 . The computer implemented method of  claim 10 , further comprising:
 recording the identification and metadata for the one of the plurality of electronic devices to a database in response to determining the CPI was included on the one of the plurality of electronic devices; and   removing the CPI from the one of the plurality of electronic devices.   
     
     
         12 . The computer implemented method of  claim 10 , wherein the one of the plurality of electronic devices is electronically quarantined from a remainder of the plurality of electronic devices until removal of the CPI from the one or more electronic devices is verified. 
     
     
         13 . The computer implemented method of  claim 10 , further comprising:
 displaying an alert in response to determining the one or more electronic devices include CPI.   
     
     
         14 . The computer implemented method of  claim 10 , further comprising:
 performing analysis to determine why the one of the plurality of electronic devices includes CPI.   
     
     
         15 . The computer implemented method of  claim 10 , wherein an operator is prompted to perform a plurality of steps utilizing the shipping system to determine whether the one or more electronic devices include CPI. 
     
     
         16 . A management system composing:
 a processor for executing a set of instructions; and   a memory for storing the set of instructions, wherein the set of instructions are executed to:
 scanning a plurality of electronic devices prior to shipping to a destination; 
 determining whether each of the plurality of electronic devices include CPI in response to the scanning; 
 recording at least an identification of one of the plurality of electronic devices in response to determining CPI is included on the one of the plurality of electronic devices; and 
 rejecting the one of plurality of electronic devices from shipping by preventing generation of a shipping label for the one or more electronic devices. 
   
     
     
         17 . The management system of  claim 16 , further comprising:
 a database, wherein the identification and metadata associated with the one of the plurality of electronic devices is recorded to the database in response to determining the CPI was included on the one of the plurality of electronic devices.   
     
     
         18 . The management system of  claim 16 , wherein the set of instructions are further executed to:
 remove the CPI from the one of the plurality of electronic devices.   
     
     
         19 . The management system of  claim 16 , wherein the one of the plurality of electronic devices is electronically quarantined from a remainder of the plurality of electronic devices until removal of the CPI from the one or more electronic devices is verified. 
     
     
         20 . The management system of  claim 16 , wherein the set of instructions are further executed to:
 perform analysis to determine why the one of the plurality of electronic devices includes CPI.
