Abstract
A unified communications application is described herein. The unified communications application is displayable in one of two views: a full view and a condensed view. When displayed in the condensed view, which consumes less than fifty percent of a display screen, the unified communications application is employable by a user thereof to participate in real-time conversations/meetings with contacts of the user.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A method performed by a software application with the software application is executed by a processor of a computing device, the method comprising:
in response to receipt of an indication that a graphical user interface (GUI) of the software application is to be displayed in a first region of a first size on a display of a computing device, causing the GUI of the software application to be presented in the first region of the display in a first preset view, wherein the first preset view is one of a plurality of preset views of the GUI of the software application; and in response to receipt of user input that indicates that the GUI of the software application is to be displayed in a second region of a second size on the display of the computing device, causing the GUI of the software application to be presented in the second region in a second preset view that is different from the first preset view, wherein the second preset view is another one of the plurality of preset views of the GUI of the software application, and further wherein the first size is greater than the second size.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the software application is a unified communications application.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first preset view consumes an entirety of the display.
4 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the second preset view consumes less than the entirety of the display, and further wherein a GUI of a second software application is displayed on a remainder of the display when the second present view is displayed.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first preset view comprises a first graphical region and a second graphical region that are displayed beside one another, and further wherein the second preset view comprises the first graphical region and the second graphical region, wherein the second graphical region is displayed within the first graphical region.
6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the first graphical region depicts video and the second graphical region depicts video.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first preset view fails to include a text input field, and further wherein the second preset view includes the text input field.
8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first preset view comprises a graphical identifier of a user of the software application, and further wherein the second preset view fails to comprise the graphical identifier of the user of the software application.
9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the software application is a unified communications (UC) application, the first preset view comprises a conversation and graphical identifiers for participants in the conversation, and further wherein the second preset view comprises the conversation but fails to comprise the identifiers for the participants in the conversation.
10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the software application comprises teleconferencing functionality, the first preset view comprises a first graphical identifier for a first participant in a teleconference and a second graphical identifier for a second participant in the teleconference, the first graphical identifier highlighted to indicate that the first participant in the teleconference is speaking, and further wherein the second preset view comprises the first graphical identifier but fails to comprise the second graphical identifier.
11 . A computing device that has a processor and memory, wherein the memory has a software application loaded therein, wherein the software application, when loaded in the memory and executed by the processor of the computing device, causes the computing device to perform acts comprising:
displaying a graphical user interface (GUI) of the software application on a display of the computing device, wherein the GUI of the software application is displayed in a first preset view and consumes a first region of the display of the computing device when displayed in the first preset view, and further wherein the first preset view is amongst a plurality of predefined preset views; receiving an indication that the GUI of the software application is to transition from the first preset view to a second preset view, wherein the second preset view is amongst the plurality of predefined preset views; in response to receiving the indication, displaying the GUI of the software application on the display of the computing device in the second preset view, wherein the second preset view consumes a second region of the display of the computing device when displayed in the second preset view, and further wherein the second region of the display is smaller than the first region of the display.
12 . The computing device of claim 11 , wherein the first region of the display is an entirety of the display.
13 . The computing device of claim 12 , wherein when the GUI of the software application is displayed in the second preset view, a remainder of the display not consumed by the GUI of the software application comprises a GUI of another software application being executed by the processor of the computing device.
14 . The computing device of claim 11 , wherein the computing device is a mobile computing device.
15 . The computing device of claim 14 , wherein the computing device is a tablet computing device.
16 . The computing device of claim 11 being a unified communications (UC) application.
17 . The computing device of claim 16 , wherein the first preset view fails to comprise a text entry field, and further wherein the second preset view comprises the text entry field.
18 . The computing device of claim 16 , wherein the first preset view comprises:
a first graphical region; and a second graphical region, wherein the first graphical region and the second graphical region are displayed beside one another, and further wherein the second preset view comprises: the first graphical region; and the second graphical region, wherein the second graphical region is displayed within the first graphical region.
19 . The computing device of claim 18 , wherein the first graphical region displays first video and the second graphical region displays second video that is different from the first video.
20 . A computing device that has a processor and memory, wherein the memory has a software application loaded therein, wherein the software application, when loaded in the memory and executed by the processor of the computing device, causes the computing device to perform acts comprising:
displaying a graphical user interface (GUI) of the software application on a display of the computing device, wherein the GUI of the software application is displayed in a first preset view and consumes a first region of the display of the computing device when displayed in the first preset view, and further wherein the first preset view is amongst a plurality of predefined preset views; receiving an indication that the GUI of the software application is to transition from the first preset view to a second preset view, wherein the second preset view is amongst the plurality of predefined preset views; in response to receiving the indication, displaying the GUI of the software application on the display of the computing device in the second preset view, wherein the second preset view consumes a second region of the display of the computing device when displayed in the second preset view, and further wherein the second region of the display is larger than the first region of the display.Cited by (0)
