Abstract

A ballistic designed to be used with a launcher with a laser range finder that controls the operation of a variable velocity control valve located inside the ballistic. In one embodiment, designed to be used with a firing pin style launcher, the ballistic includes an internal compressed air source and an internal restrictor plate. The restrictor plate includes a plurality of holes that control the velocity of the compressed air in the ballistic. Located inside the ballistic is a drive motor coupled to the microprocessor on the launcher. The micro processor produces motor control signals that control the rotation position of a high/slow stop to selectively block or unblock holes formed in the restrictor plate and thereby control the velocity of compressed air against the projectile.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
I claim:

1 . A variable velocity ballistic for a launcher that includes a range finder configured to determine the distance to a desired target, said launch is coupled to a microprocessor configured to process distance signals from said laser in to motor drive signals, said ballistic, comprising:
 a. an outer casing; b. a projectile located inside said outer casing; b. motor located inside said outer casing, said motor configured to receive motor drive signals from said microprocessor; c. a restrictor plate located inside said outer casing with a plurality of air holes formed thereon, d. a high/low disc located inside said outer casing, said high/low disc located adjacent to said restrictor plate and configured to unblock some or all of said holes on said restrictor plate when said high/low disc is rotated inside said outer casing, said high/low disc attached to said motor; and, e. a compressed air source configured to deliver compressed air to side of said high/low disc opposite said restrictor plate, said compressed air being a sufficient pressure to propel said projectile from said outer casing.
