Abstract

A data transfer system is configured to receive via a computer communications network an identification of a location of remotely-stored structured data accessible to a remote system; provide an output signal for display on a remote system of a prompt for mapping data mapping the remotely stored data to data identifiers; receive mapping data in response to the prompt; access the remotely stored data; employing the received mapping data, map data elements identified in the remotely-stored, to a a predetermined format; verify that the received mapped data constitutes complete data to submit to a backend system; and submit the mapped data to the backend system.

1 . A data transfer gateway system comprising:
 a gateway computer, in communication with a local network with a backend transaction processing computer system and in communication via an external network with a plurality of remote computer systems, the gateway computer comprising a processor and a memory, the memory storing a plurality of transaction types and, for each of the transaction types, a plurality of required fields, the processor configured to:   provide for display on one of the remote computer systems, a graphical user interface including a plurality of user-selectable transaction types;   responsive to receipt of a selection of a transaction type, provide for display on the graphical user interface a prompt to identify user data to be mapped;   responsive to receipt of an identification of the user data to be mapped, provide for display on the graphical user interface a representation of the user data and a plurality of the required fields associated with the selected transaction type;   receive, from the graphical user interface, mapping data between the plurality of the required fields associated with the selected transaction type and data elements in the user data;   map the data elements from the user data file using the received mapping data;   determine whether the mapped data elements constitute all required data for processing of the selected transaction type via the backend transaction processing computer system;   responsive to determining that the mapped data elements do not constitute all required data for processing of the selected transaction type via the backend transaction processing computer system, render on a display of the one or more remote computer systems, one or more prompts for input of data; and   responsive to determining that the mapped data elements constitute all required data for the transaction for processing the selected transaction type via the backend transaction processing computer system, transmit the mapped data via the local network to the backend transaction processing computer.   
     
     
         2 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the user data is received in one of a spreadsheet format, XML format, a database format, and a text document format. 
     
     
         3 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the user data is received in an electronic file. 
     
     
         4 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to provide for display on one of the remote computer systems, a graphical user interface including a plurality of levels of menus for selection of a transaction type. 
     
     
         5 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to display, on a graphical user interface, user data in a formatted manner and user-selectable required data elements, mapping between user data types and required data elements being established by user selection of one of the data elements followed by positioning a cursor over the user data and selection of the user data. 
     
     
         6 . The system of  claim 5 , wherein the processor being configured to display user data in a formatted manner comprises the processor being configured to display user data as a spreadsheet file, mapping being established by user selection of a column in the spreadsheet file corresponding to a selected data element. 
     
     
         7 . The system of  claim 6 , wherein the processor is further configured to run matching rules between column titles and corresponding mapped data elements, and to generate an error message for display responsive to identification of a mismatch based on the running of the matching rules. 
     
     
         8 . The system of  claim 5 , wherein the processor is further configured to compare user data to third party data, and, responsive to identifying a discrepancy between user data and third party data, to select and display a message from a library of messages. 
     
     
         9 . The system of  claim 8 , wherein the comparing comprises comparing address data to geographical information systems data. 
     
     
         10 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to store in the memory, the mapping data and an association between the mapping data and a user identification wherein, responsive to a subsequent receipt of the user identification and further user data, the processor is configured to access the further user data and map the further user data using the stored mapping data. 
     
     
         11 . A computer-implemented method, comprising:
 providing, by a gateway computer, in communication with a local network with a backend transaction processing computer system and in communication via an external network with a plurality of remote computer systems, the gateway computer comprising a processor and a memory, for display on one of the remote computer systems, a graphical user interface including a plurality of user-selectable transaction types;   responsive to receipt of a selection of a transaction type, providing, by the gateway computer, for display on the graphical user interface, a prompt to identify user data to be mapped;   responsive to receipt of an identification of the user data to be mapped, providing, by the gateway computer, for display on the graphical user interface a representation of the user data and a plurality of required fields associated with the selected transaction type in accordance with data stored in the memory indicative of, for each of the transaction types, a plurality of required fields;   receiving, by the gateway computer from the graphical user interface, mapping data between the plurality of the required fields associated with the selected transaction type and data elements in the user data;   mapping, by the gateway computer, the data elements from the user data file using the received mapping data;   determining, by the gateway computer, whether the mapped data elements constitute all required data for processing of the selected transaction type via the backend transaction processing computer system;   responsive to determining that the mapped data elements do not constitute all required data for processing of the selected transaction type via the backend transaction processing computer system, rendering, by the gateway computer, on a display of the one or more remote computer systems, one or more prompts for input of data; and   responsive to determining that the mapped data elements constitute all required data for the transaction for processing the selected transaction type via the backend transaction processing computer system, transmitting, by the gateway computer, the mapped data via the local network to the backend transaction processing computer.   
     
     
         12 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 11 , wherein the user data is received in one of a spreadsheet format, XML format, a database format, and a text document format. 
     
     
         13 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 11 , wherein the user data is received in an electronic file. 
     
     
         14 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 11 , further comprising providing, by the gateway computer, for display on one of the remote computer systems, a graphical user interface including a plurality of levels of menus for selection of a transaction type. 
     
     
         15 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 11 , further comprising displaying, on a graphical user interface, user data in a formatted manner and user-selectable required data elements, mapping between user data types and required data elements being established by user selection of one of the data elements followed by positioning a cursor over the user data and selection of the user data. 
     
     
         16 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 15 , wherein displaying user data in a formatted manner comprises displaying user data as a spreadsheet file, mapping being established by user selection of a column in the spreadsheet file corresponding to a selected data element. 
     
     
         17 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 16 , further comprising running, by the gateway computer, matching rules between column titles and corresponding mapped data elements, and generating an error message for display responsive to identification of a mismatch based on the running of the matching rules. 
     
     
         18 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 15 , further comprising comparing user data to third party data, and, responsive to identifying a discrepancy between user data and third party data, selecting and displaying a message from a library of messages. 
     
     
         19 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 18 , wherein the comparing comprises comparing address data to geographical information systems data. 
     
     
         20 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 11 , further comprising storing, in a memory of the gateway computer, the mapping data and an association between the mapping data and a user identification wherein, responsive to a subsequent receipt of the user identification and further user data, the gateway computer maps the further user data using the stored mapping data.
