Method and system for internetwork communication with machine devices
Abstract
A device of a public communication network initiates an action at a destination UE device of a private communication network by transmitting an action request message to a translating device that has a network/logical connection to both networks. The action request message contains security credentials of the initiating device, but does not contain a network address of the destination UE device. The translating device uses the security credentials of the initiating device contained in the action request message to determine a network address of the private network corresponding to the desired destination UE device. The security credentials may also be used to establish a secure connection from the initiating device. The translating device forwards the action request message to the desired destination device at the address associated with the initiator-device security credentials that it received in the action request message. The translating device may be a publish-subscribe broker.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A method, comprising:
receiving an action request message generated by a first device, wherein the action request message includes unique identifying information associated with the first device; searching a valid user equipment database for information in a record corresponding to the identifying information associated with the first device, wherein the information in the record corresponding to the unique identifying information associated with the first device includes destination information corresponding to a second device, wherein the second device is managed by a private communication network, and wherein the action request message does not include identifying information of the private communication network; and forwarding the action request message according to the destination information corresponding to the second device.
2 . The method of claim 1 wherein the destination information corresponding to the second device includes a network address uniquely corresponding to the second device.
3 . The method of claim 1 wherein the unique identifying information associated with the first device includes security credentials.
4 . The method of claim 3 wherein the security credentials include an encryption key.
5 . The method of claim 4 wherein the encryption key is a first encryption key that corresponds to user-centric services of a vehicle.
6 . The method of claim 4 wherein the encryption key is a second encryption key that corresponds to manufacturer-centric services of a vehicle.
7 . The method of claim 1 wherein the action request message includes information to cause the second device to transition from a data-idle state to a data-connected state.
8 . The method of claim 3 further comprising using the security credentials of the first device to implement a secure data session from the first device.
9 . A method, comprising:
receiving a plurality of action request messages generated by one or more initiator devices, wherein each of the action request messages includes content associated with an initiator device that generated the action request message; filtering the plurality of action request messages based on the content thereof by:
locating in a valid user equipment database destination information corresponding to one or more subscriber devices based on the content, wherein the subscriber devices are managed by a private communication network, and wherein the action request messages do not include identifying information of the private communication network; and
delivering one or more of the action request messages to respective subscriber devices according to destination information corresponding to content to which the subscriber devices subscribe.
10 . The method of claim 9 wherein the destination information corresponding to the subscriber devices includes network addresses uniquely corresponding to the subscriber devices.
11 . The method of claim 9 wherein the unique identifying information associated with the initiator devices includes security credentials.
12 . The method of claim 11 wherein the security credentials include a first encryption key that corresponds to user-centric services of a vehicle, wherein the subscriber devices are telematics devices.
13 . The method of claim 11 wherein the security credentials include a second encryption key that corresponds to manufacturer-centric services of a vehicle, wherein the subscriber devices are telematics devices.
14 . A method, comprising:
providing unique identifying information associated with a plurality of initiator devices to be included in respective records of a valid user equipment database such that unique identifying information associated with a first initiator device received in an action request message generated by the first initiator device is used to locate within the valid user equipment database information in a record corresponding to the identifying information associated with the first initiator device, wherein the information in the record corresponding to the unique identifying information associated with the first initiator device includes destination information corresponding to a second device, wherein the second device is managed by a private communication network, and wherein the action request message does not include identifying information of the private communication network; and forwarding the action request message according to the destination information corresponding to the second device.
15 . The method of claim 14 wherein the destination information corresponding to the second device includes a network address uniquely corresponding to the second device.
16 . The method of claim 14 wherein the unique identifying information associated with the first initiator device includes security credentials.
17 . The method of claim 16 wherein the security credentials include an encryption key.
18 . The method of claim 17 wherein the encryption key is a first encryption key that corresponds to user-centric services of a vehicle.
19 . The method of claim 17 wherein the encryption key is a second encryption key that corresponds to manufacturer-centric services of a vehicle.
20 . The method of claim 14 further comprising causing the second device to transition from a data-idle state to a data-connected state based on the action request message.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
