Abstract

A method implemented by a client application when executed on a user device during an instant messaging communication between said user device and at least one further device, the method comprising: transmitting a first message comprising media data over a communication network from said user device to said at least one further device; receiving a second message comprising further media data transmitted over said communication network from said at least one further device; determining that the media data and the further media data are of the same data type; and generating a composite media object based on the media data and the further media data in response to said determination and displaying the composite media object on a display of said user device.

transmitting the composite data to one of the first and second devices.

22 . The device of claim 21 , wherein the media content type of the first data and second data is one of an audio content type, video content type and image content type.

23 . The device of claim 22 , wherein the first data and second data are of the audio content type, and the composite data comprises composite audio data.

24 . The device of claim 23 , wherein the first data and second data comprise audio data of an identical sound content, and
to generate the composite data, the instructions further include instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to control the device to perform functions of:
optimizing audio characteristics of the audio data of the first data and second data; and
stitching the optimized audio data of the first data and second data together to generate the composite audio data.

25 . The device of claim 22 , wherein the first data and second data are of the image content type, and the composite data comprises composite image data.

26 . The device of claim 25 , wherein the first data and second data comprise image data of an identical scene, and
to generate the composite data, the instructions further include instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to control the device to perform a function of merging the image data of the first data and second data together to generate the composite image data.

27 . The device of claim 22 , wherein the first data and second data are of the video content type, and the composite data comprises composite video data.

28 . The device of claim 27 , wherein the first data and second data comprise video data of an identical scene, and
to generate the composite data, the instructions further include instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to control the device to perform a functions of merging the video data of the first data and second data together to generate the composite video data.

29 . The device of claim 21 , wherein, to generate the composite data, the instructions further include instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to control the device to perform a function of stitching, joining or merging the first data and second data together.

30 . The device of claim 21 , wherein the instructions further include instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to control the device to perform functions of:
transmitting the first message received from the first device to the second device via the communication network; and transmitting the second message received from the second device to the first device via the communication network.

         31 . A method of operating a device, comprising:
receiving a first message transmitted from a first device via a communication network, the first message including first data; receiving a second message transmitted from a second device via the communication network, the second message including second data; determining that the first data and second data are of the same media content type; generating composite data based on the first data and second data of the same media content type; and transmitting the composite data to one of the first and second devices.

32 . The method of claim 31 , wherein the media content type of the first data and second data is one of an audio content type, video content type and image content type.

33 . The method of claim 32 , wherein the first data and second data are of the audio content type, and the composite data comprises composite audio data.

34 . The method of claim 33 , wherein the first data and second data comprise audio data of an identical sound content, and generating the composite data comprises:
optimizing audio characteristics of the audio data of the first data and second data; and stitching the optimized audio data of the first data and second data together to generate the composite audio data.

35 . The method of claim 32 , wherein the first data and second data are of the image content type, and the composite data comprises composite image data.

36 . The method of claim 35 , wherein the first data and second data comprise image data of an identical scene, and generating the composite data comprises merging the image data of the first data and second data together to generate the composite image data.

37 . The method of claim 32 , wherein the first data and second data are of the video content type, and the composite data comprises composite video data.
