Abstract
The present invention relates to a method for the treatment of an autistic syndrome disorder comprising administering to a subject in need thereof an effective amount of antibacterial agent.

1 . A method for the treatment of an autistic syndrome disorder comprising:
identifying or verifying a bacterial infection of a human having autistic syndrome disorder by determining a circulating nucleic acids associated with intestinal bacteria in blood of a human having the autistic syndrome disorder; administering to the human having autistic syndrome disorder repeated courses of an effective amount of at least one antibacterial agent over a period of at least about ninety days with at least two intervening hiatuses; and monitoring the treatment by determining persistence of the identified or verified bacterial infection.
2 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein the identifying or verifying comprises performing polymerase chain reaction amplification of bacterial DNA circulating in blood of the human having autistic syndrome disorder.
3 . The method according to claim 2 , wherein the bacterial DNA comprises DNA from Suterella genus.
4 . The method according to claim 2 , wherein the polymerase chain reaction amplification of bacterial DNA circulating in blood of the human having autistic syndrome disorder is performed using primers specific for 16S bacterial RNA.
5 . The method according to claim 2 , wherein the polymerase chain reaction amplification of bacterial DNA circulating in blood of the human having autistic syndrome disorder is performed using primers specific for genus Alcaligenaceae nucleic acid sequences.
6 . The method according to claim 2 , wherein the polymerase chain reaction amplification of bacterial DNA circulating in blood of the human having autistic syndrome disorder is performed using primers specific for genus Burkholderiaceae nucleic acid sequences.
7 . The method according to claim 2 , wherein the polymerase chain reaction amplification of bacterial DNA circulating in blood of the human having autistic syndrome disorder is performed using primers specific for genus Borrelia nucleic acid sequences.
8 . The method according to claim 2 , wherein the polymerase chain reaction amplification of bacterial DNA circulating in blood of the human having autistic syndrome disorder produces an amplicon of about 260 bp.
9 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein the identifying or verifying comprises performing an analysis of electromagnetic signals emitted by water dilutions of DNA extracted from the plasma of the human having autistic syndrome disorder.
10 . The method according to claim 9 , wherein a solution of the DNA extracted from the plasma of the human having autistic syndrome disorder is filtered through a filter having a porosity of about 100 nM.
11 . The method according to claim 1 , further comprising identifying or verifying comprises performing polymerase chain reaction amplification of bacterial DNA circulating in blood of the human having autistic syndrome disorder, and analyzing of electromagnetic signals emitted by water dilutions of DNA extracted from the plasma of the human having autistic syndrome disorder.
12 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one antibacterial agent comprises a broad spectrum antibiotic.
13 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one antibacterial agent comprises a macrolide antibiotic.
14 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one antibacterial agent comprises a tetracycline antibiotic.
15 . The method according to claim 1 , further comprising administering an antifungal agent.
16 . The method according to claim 15 , wherein the antifungal agent comprises triflucan.
17 . The method according to claim 15 , further comprising administering an antiparasitic agent.
18 . The method according to claim 17 , wherein the antifungal agent comprises at least one of Fluvermal and Flagyl.
19 . A method for the treatment of a neurological disorder comprising:
performing polymerase chain reaction to detect 16S RNA of a bacteria of genus Alcaligenaceae, Burkholderiaceae , or Borrelia , in plasma of a patient having the neurological disorder, by producing an amplicon; administering to the patient repeated courses of an effective amount of at least one antibacterial agent of about three weeks, interrupted by a hiatus of about one week, for at least three cycles; and monitoring the treatment by determining persistence of the 16S RNA detectable in the plasma after the administering.
20 . A pharmaceutical formulation for treatment of autistic syndrome disorder, comprising a pharmaceutically acceptable oral dosage form comprising a broad spectrum antibiotic, an antifungal agent, and an antiparasitic agent, for inhibiting growth of, and reduction of circulating 16S RNA in plasma attributable to intestinal bacteria of genus Alcaligenaceae, Burkholderiaceae , or Borrelia.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
