Abstract

A supplemental device for attachment to an injection device is presented having a display; a processor arrangement; a dose dialed detector operable to detect a dose of medicament dialed into an attached injection device; a dose delivery determiner for determining that a dose of medicament has been delivered; a quantity determiner determining a quantity of medicament that has been delivered; and a clock configured to determine a current time. The processor arrangement is configured when the supplemental device is in a default mode to display both a quantity of medicament that was delivered since a last dose and a time elapsed since delivery of the last dose.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 - 16 . (canceled)

17 . A supplemental device for attachment to an injection device, the supplemental device comprising:
a display; and a processor arrangement; wherein the processor arrangement is configured, when the supplemental device is not correctly aligned with the injection device, to cause transition to an incorrect alignment state.

18 . A supplemental device as claimed in claim 17 , wherein the supplemental device comprises a detection switch for determining whether the supplemental device is mounted on the injection device, and wherein the processor arrangement is configured, when the supplemental device is not mounted on the injection device, to cause transition to an unmounted state.

19 . A supplemental device as claimed in claim 18 , wherein the supplemental device comprises a battery, and wherein the processor arrangement is configured, when the battery is almost empty, to cause transition to a low battery state.

20 . A supplemental device as claimed in claim 19 , wherein the processor arrangement is configured, when the supplemental device is not in the incorrect alignment state, the unmounted state, or the low battery state, to cause transition to a default state.

21 . A supplemental device as claimed in claim 20 , wherein in the default state, the supplemental device is configured to display information relating to a last use of the injection device.

22 . A supplemental device as claimed in claim 17 , wherein the supplemental device comprises an optical sensor for determining when the supplemental device is not correctly aligned with the injection device.

23 . A supplemental device as claimed in claim 22 , wherein the optical sensor comprises one or both of an OCR module or a photometer.

24 . A supplemental device as claimed in claim 22 , wherein the optical sensor is configured to act as a dose dialed detector.

25 . A supplemental device as claimed in claim 22 , wherein the optical sensor is configured to determine one or both of a type of the injection device or a type of medicament contained in the injection device.

26 . A supplemental device as claimed in claim 20 , wherein the processor arrangement is configured, when the supplemental device is in the incorrect alignment state, to:
 (i) cause transition to the default state after a predetermined time, or (ii) cause the supplemental device to remain in the incorrect alignment state until determination that the supplemental device is correctly aligned with the injection device, or (iii) prevent the supplemental device from progressing from the default state until determination that the supplemental device is correctly aligned with the injection device.

27 . A system comprising the supplemental device and the injection device as claimed in claim 17 .

28 . A method of operating a supplemental device attached to an injection device, the method comprising:
determining that the supplemental device is not aligned with the injection device; and transitioning, by the supplemental device, to an incorrect alignment state.

29 . A computer program comprising machine readable instructions that, when executed by a processor arrangement of a supplemental device attachable to an injection device, cause the supplemental device to perform a method comprising:
determining that the supplemental device is not aligned with the injection device; and transitioning, by the supplemental device, to an incorrect alignment state.
