Abstract

A system includes a wearable device, a second device remote from and in communication with the wearable device, a processor configured to generate a control signal representative of an event occurring in an environment related to the wearable device and/or the second device, and a haptic output device configured to provide haptic feedback based on the generated control signal.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified

a wearable device; a second device remote from and in communication with the wearable device; a processor configured to generate a control signal representative of an event occurring in an environment related to the wearable device and/or the second device; and a haptic output device configured to provide haptic feedback based on the generated control signal.

2 . A method of providing a haptic effect in an augmented reality space, the method comprising:
generating the augmented reality space coincident with a physical space; recognizing a physical object in the physical space and augmenting the physical object with a virtual object in the augmented reality space; determining an event associated with the augmented reality space; and generating a control signal based on the event, wherein a first wearable device includes a haptic output device that is configured to render the haptic effect according to the control signal.

3 . The method according to claim 2 , wherein the event comprises an interaction with a virtual object, an interaction between the physical object and the augmented reality space, a confirmation of an action occurring with respect to the augmented reality space, a confirmation that the physical object is recognized by the augmented reality device, or a confirmation that an object in the physical space has been augmented.

4 . The method according to claim 2 , wherein the event comprises an indication of the physical object within a predetermined proximity of the augmented reality device, an indication of an environmental condition occurring in an environment related to the augmented reality device, an indication of a change in an environmental condition occurring in the environment, or an indication of a movement of an object within a predetermined proximity of the augmented reality device.

5 . The method according to claim 2 , wherein the augmented reality device comprises the haptic output device.

6 . The method according to claim 2 , wherein the first wearable device comprises the haptic output device.

7 . The method according to claim 2 , wherein a second wearable device is remote from and in communication with the first wearable device and the augmented reality device.

8 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium having instructions stored thereon that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to provide haptic effects with power management on a mobile device, the instructions comprising:
generating an augmented reality space coincident with a physical space, recognizing physical object in the physical space and augmenting the physical object with a virtual object in the augmented reality space, determining an event associated with the augmented reality space, and generating a control signal based on the event, wherein a first wearable device includes a haptic output device that is configured to render the haptic effect according to the control signal.

9 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium according to claim 8 , wherein the event comprises an interaction with a virtual object, an interaction between the physical object and the augmented reality space, a confirmation of an action occurring with respect to the augmented reality space, a confirmation that the physical object is recognized by the augmented reality device, or a confirmation that an object in the physical space has been augmented.

10 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium according to claim 8 , wherein the event comprises an indication of the physical object within a predetermined proximity of the augmented reality device, an indication of an environmental condition occurring in an environment related to the augmented reality device, an indication of a change in an environmental condition occurring in the environment, or an indication of a movement of an object within a predetermined proximity of the augmented reality device.

11 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium according to claim 8 , wherein the augmented reality device comprises the haptic output device.

12 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium according to claim 8 , wherein the first wearable device comprises the haptic output device.

13 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium according to claim 8 , wherein a second wearable device is remote from and in communication with the first wearable device and the augmented reality device.

         14 . A system comprising:
an augmented reality device configured to generate an augmented reality space comprising an augmented reality space and a physical space, the augmented reality device comprising a processor configured to
generate the augmented reality space coincident with the physical space,
recognize a physical object in the physical space and augment the physical object with the virtual object in the augmented reality space,
determine an event associated with the augmented reality space, and
generate a control signal based on the event; and
a first wearable device that is communicatively coupled to the augmented reality device, wherein the first wearable device includes a haptic output device that is configured to render the haptic effect according to the control signal.

15 . The system according to claim 14 , wherein the event comprises an interaction with a virtual object, an interaction between the physical object and the augmented reality space, a confirmation of an action occurring with respect to the augmented reality space, a confirmation that the physical object is recognized by the augmented reality device, or a confirmation that an object in the physical space has been augmented.
