Therapy for promoting cell growth

Abstract

There is disclosed the use of a composition for promoting neuronal growth of neurons in tissues of the central or peripheral nervous system. There is also disclosed a method for inducing proliferation or differentiation of neuronal cells.

         74 . A composition consisting of the following four herbal components:
 i) Radix Polygalae;   ii) Radix Astragali;   iii) Rhizoma Chuanxiong; and   iv) Radix Angelicae sinensis,   wherein each herbal component is present in the composition as an unprocessed or crushed herb or as a purified extract.   
     
     
         75 . The composition according to  claim 74 , wherein each herbal component is present in the composition as a purified extract. 
     
     
         76 . The composition according to  claim 74 , wherein Radix Polygalae, Rhizoma Chuanxiong, Radix Angelicae sinensis, and Radix Astragali are present in the composition in a ratio of about 1:1:1:5 by weight, respectively. 
     
     
         77 . The composition according to  claim 75 , wherein Radix Polygalae, Rhizoma Chuanxiong, Radix Angelicae sinensis, and Radix Astragali are present in the composition in a ratio of about 1:1:1:5 by weight, respectively. 
     
     
         78 . The composition according to  claim 74 , wherein said composition is a pharmaceutical composition further comprising a pharmaceutically acceptable additive, carrier or diluent.
