Abstract

A portable auto-injector is capable of moving from a compact state where the auto-injector is in a shape easier to transport than in an activation state wherein the auto-injector has been extended. A safety limits movement of the needle assembly and prevents premature needle sticks. The drug is stored in one or more dry and wet medicament states until need.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A drug mixing system comprising:
a housing containing a first chamber and a second chamber; a wet component provided in the first chamber; a dry component provided outside the first chamber, the dry component including an epinephrine compound; a movable body disposed between the first chamber and the second chamber; and a first displacement mechanism, the first displacement mechanism being configured to cause movement of the wet component from the first chamber into the second chamber, thus causing the wet component and the dry component to mix thus resulting in a mixed medicament compound.

2 . The drug mixing system of claim 1 , wherein the movable body further includes a fluid channel disposed within the movable body providing fluid communication between the first chamber and the second chamber.

3 . The drug mixing system of claim 1 , wherein the first chamber is structurally independent from the second chamber.

4 . The drug mixing system of claim 3 , wherein the first chamber is formed within a first vial, and the second chamber is formed within a second vial.

5 . The drug mixing system of claim 3 , wherein the movable body extends partially into the first chamber and also extends partially into the second chamber.

6 . The drug mixing system of claim 5 , wherein the first displacement mechanism is provided about a first end of the movable body.

7 . The drug mixing system of claim 1 , comprising:
an actuation assembly, the actuation assembly being provided in mechanical communication with the first displacement mechanism, whereupon actuation of the actuation assembly drives the first displacement mechanism into the first chamber so as to displace the wet component from the first chamber into the second chamber so as to mix with the dry component thus resulting in a mixed medicament compound.

8 . The drug mixing system of claim 7 , wherein the actuation assembly further comprises an intra-housing, wherein the intra-housing is configured to displace the movable body into the first chamber in response to a manual input thus displacing the first component into the second chamber.

9 . The drug mixing system of claim 1 , further comprising:
a needle assembly in fluid communication with the second chamber; a trigger; and a pre-stored energy source; wherein the trigger is configured to be actuated so as to releases energy from the stored energy storage so as to displace the movable body into the second chamber so as to displace the mixed medicament compound from the second chamber and through the needle assembly.

10 . The drug mixing system of claim 9 , wherein the movable body extends partially into the first chamber and also extends partially into the second chamber.

11 . The drug mixing system of claim 10 , further comprising a second displacement mechanism associated with the second chamber, wherein the first displacement mechanism is provided about a first end of the movable body, and wherein the second displacement mechanism is provided about a second opposing end of the movable body.

12 . The drug mixing system of claim 1 , wherein the wet component is configured to dissolve the dry component.

13 . The drug mixing system of claim 1 , wherein the dry component is configured to be suspended in the wet component.

         14 . A drug mixing system comprising:
a housing comprising a fluid channel disposed between a first chamber and a second chamber; a wet component provided in the first chamber; a dry component provided outside the first chamber, the dry component including an epinephrine compound; a movable body disposed between the first chamber and the second chamber, the movable body including a valve; a first displacement mechanism, the first displacement mechanism being provided in association with the first chamber, the first displacement mechanism being configured to displace the wet component from the first chamber; and an actuation assembly in communication with the first displacement mechanism, whereupon actuation of the actuation assembly causes the first displacement mechanism to displace the wet component from the first chamber into the second chamber so as to mix with the dry component thus resulting in a mixed medicament compound.

15 . The drug mixing system of claim 14 , further comprising:
a pre-stored energy source; a needle assembly in fluid communication with the second chamber; a trigger; and a second displacement mechanism associated with the second chamber, the second displacement mechanism being configured to displace the mixed medicament compound from the second chamber through the needle assembly; wherein the first chamber is structurally independent from the second chamber; and wherein the trigger is configured to be actuated so as to releases energy from the stored energy storage so as to displace the second displacement mechanism into the second chamber so as to displace the mixed medicament compound from the second chamber and through the needle assembly.

16 . The drug mixing system of claim 14 , wherein the movable body further includes a fluid channel disposed within the movable body providing fluid communication between the first chamber and the second chamber.

17 . The drug mixing system of claim 14 , wherein the first chamber is formed from a first vial, and the second chamber is formed from a second vial.

18 . The drug mixing system of claim 15 , wherein the movable body extends partially into the first chamber and also extends partially into the second chamber.

19 . The drug mixing system of claim 15 , wherein the actuation assembly further comprises an intra-housing, wherein the intra-housing is configured to displace the movable body into the first chamber in response to a manual input thus displacing the wet component into the second chamber.

20 . The drug mixing system of claim 15 , wherein the movable body extends partially into the first chamber and wherein the movable body also extends partially into the second chamber, wherein the first displacement mechanism is provided about a first end of the movable body, and wherein the second displacement mechanism is provided about a second end of the movable body.
