Abstract
The present invention is directed to mixtures comprising sabadilla alkaloids and at least one essential oil and methods of controlling pests including insects, mites and nematodes by application of mixtures comprising sabadilla alkaloids and at least one essential oil.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
. A mixture comprising an effective amount of sabadilla alkaloids and at least one essential oil.
. The mixture of claim 1 , wherein the sabadilla alkaloids are derived from Schoenocaulon officinale.
. The mixture of claim 1 , wherein the sabadilla alkaloids are veratridine and cevadine.
. The mixture of claim 1 , wherein the at least one essential oil is selected from the group consisting of cedarwood oil, cinnamon oil, citronella oil, clove oil, cornmint oil, geranium oil, lemongrass oil, peppermint oil, rosemary oil, spearmint oil and thyme oil.
. The mixture of claim 1 , wherein the at least one essential oil comprises eugenol.
. The mixture of claim 1 , further comprising one or more excipients selected from the group consisting of solvents, anti-caking agents, stabilizers, defoamers, slip agents, humectants, dispersants, wetting agents, thickening agents, emulsifiers, penetrants, adjuvants, synergists, polymers, propellants and/or preservatives.
. The mixture of claim 1 , wherein the sabadilla alkaloid is present in the mixture at a concentration from about 0.01% to about 1% w/w, wherein w/w denotes weight by total weight of the mixture.
. The mixture of claim 1 , wherein the sabadilla alkaloid is present in the mixture at a concentration from about 0. 025 % to about 0 . 5 % w/w, wherein w/w denotes weight by total weight of the mixture.
. The mixture of claim 1 , wherein the at least one essential oil is present in the mixture at a concentration from about 0.1% to about 10 % w/w, wherein w/w denotes weight by total weight of the mixture.
. The mixture of claim 1 , wherein the at least one essential is present in the mixture at a concentration from about 0.1% to about 4% w/w, wherein w/w denotes weight by total weight of the mixture.
. A method of controlling a pest comprising applying a mixture comprising an effective amount of sabadilla alkaloids and at least one essential oil to the pest or the pest's environment.
. The method of claim 11 , wherein the pest is at least one of an insect, a mite and a nematode.
. The method of claim 11 , wherein the pest is selected from the group consisting of aphids (Homoptera), whiteflies (Hemiptera), thrips (Thysanoptera), bed bugs (Hemiptera), fleas (Siphonaptera), caterpillars/worms (Lepidoptera), beetles (Coleoptera), cockroaches (Blattodea), flies (Diptera), ants (Hymenoptera), and mites (Acari).
. The method of claim 11 , wherein the pest is selected from the group consisting of common bed bugs ( Cimex lectularius ), green peach aphids ( Myzus persicae ), house fly ( Musca domestica ), yellow fever mosquito ( Aedes aegypti ), southern house mosquito ( Culex quinquefasciatus ), African malaria mosquito ( Anopheles gambiae ), common malaria mosquito ( Anopheles quadrimaculatus ) and German cockroach ( Blattella germanica ).
. The method of claim 11 , wherein the sabadilla alkaloid is applied at a rate from about 1 to about 1,000 grams per hectare.
. The method of claim 11 , wherein the sabadilla alkaloid is applied at a rate from about 10 to about 700 grams per hectare.
. The method of claim 11 , wherein the sabadilla alkaloid is applied at a rate from about 22 to about 105 grams per hectare.
. The method of claim 11 , wherein the at least one essential oil is applied at a rate from about 10 to about 15,000 grams per hectare.
. The method of claim 11 , wherein the at least one essential oil is applied at a rate from about 200 to about 12,000 grams per hectare.
. The method of claim 11 , wherein the at least one essential oil is applied at a rate from about 292 to about 11,673 grams per hectare.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
