Abstract

Compounds that selectively inhibit pathological production of human vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and compositions comprising such Compounds are described. Compounds that inhibit viral replication or the production of viral RNA or DNA or viral protein and compositions comprising such Compounds are described. Also described are methods of reducing VEGF using such Compounds and methods for treating cancer and non-neoplastic conditions involving the administration of such Compounds. Further described are methods of inhibiting viral replication or the production of viral RNA or DNA or viral protein using such Compounds and methods for treating viral infections involving the administration of such Compounds. The Compounds may be administered as a single agent therapy or in combination with one or more additional therapies to a human in need of such treatments.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 .- 8 . (canceled)

9 . A method of treating cancer comprising administering an effective amount of a compound having the structure:

or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof to a human subject in need thereof, wherein the cancer is acute leukemia, acute lymphocytic leukemia, acute myelocytic leukemia, chronic leukemia, polycythemia vera, lymphoma, or multiple myeloma.

10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the acute myelocytic leukemia is selected from myeloblastic, promyelocytic, myelomonocytic, monocytic or erythroleukemia leukemia, and myelodysplastic syndrome.

11 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the chronic leukemia is selected from chronic myelocytic leukemia, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, and hairy cell leukemia.

12 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the lymphoma is selected from Hodgkin's disease and non-Hodgkin's disease.

13 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the multiple myeloma is selected from smoldering multiple myeloma, nonsecretory myeloma, osteosclerotic myeloma, and plasma cell leukemia.

15 . The method of claim 14 , wherein the acute myelocytic leukemia is selected from myeloblastic, promyelocytic, myelomonocytic, monocytic or erythroleukemia leukemia, and myelodysplastic syndrome.

16 . The method of claim 14 , wherein the chronic leukemia is selected from chronic myelocytic leukemia, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, and hairy cell leukemia.

17 . The method of claim 14 , wherein the lymphoma is selected from Hodgkin's disease and non-Hodgkin's disease.

18 . The method of claim 14 , wherein the multiple myeloma is selected from smoldering multiple myeloma, nonsecretory myeloma, osteosclerotic myeloma, and plasma cell leukemia.
