Abstract

A mounting for acoustically insulating a first building component from a second building component, said mounting having a first insulating portion extending around a fastener, a second insulating portion extending around said fastener, a neck insulating portion extending between said first insulating portion and said second insulating portion, such that a shaft of the fastener is covered by one or more of the insulating portions between the first building component and the second building component.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A mounting for acoustically insulating a first building component from a second building component, said mounting having:
a first insulating portion extending around a fastener; a second insulating portion extending around said fastener; a neck insulating portion extending between said first insulating portion and said second insulating portion; such that a shaft of the fastener is covered by one or more of the insulating portions between the first building component and the second building component.

2 . A mounting according to claim 1 wherein the neck insulating portion fits through an aperture in said second building component, said second building component having two sections perpendicular to one another, one section having the aperture and the other section providing connection to a secondary building component.

3 . A mounting according to claim 2 wherein the first insulating portion extends between the first building component and said one section of the second building component.

4 . A mounting according to claim 3 wherein at least the first insulating portion is substantially circular in cross-section and has a series of alternating ribs and grooves around the outer surface of the first insulating portion.

5 . A mounting according to claim 4 wherein the first building component is a primary bracket that has a raised portion and the second building component is a secondary bracket, such that when the first building component is connected to the second building component through the fastener, a head of the fastener abuts against a rear surface of the raised portion of the first building component.

6 . A mounting according to claim 1 wherein the mounting is dimensioned to provide a gap between the first building component and the second building component and wherein the fastener is insulated by said mounting from the second building component.

7 . A mounting according to claim 2 wherein the mounting is dimensioned to provide a gap between the first building component and the second building component and wherein the fastener is insulated by said mounting from the second building component.

8 . A mounting according to claim 3 wherein the mounting is dimensioned to provide a gap between the first building component and the second building component and wherein the fastener is insulated by said mounting from the second building component.

9 . A mounting according to claim 4 wherein the mounting is dimensioned to provide a gap between the first building component and the second building component and wherein the fastener is insulated by said mounting from the second building component.

10 . A mounting according to claim 5 wherein the mounting is dimensioned to provide a gap between the first building component and the second building component and wherein the fastener is insulated by said mounting from the second building component.
