Pharmaceutical Composition for Preventing and Treating Alpha Herpes Virus Infection, Containing, As Active Ingredient, Elaeocarpus Sylvestris Extract or Fraction Thereof

Abstract

The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating alpha-herpesvirus infection comprising an Elaeocarpus sylvestris extract or a fraction thereof as an active ingredient, and can effectively prevent, treat or alleviate an alpha-herpesvirus and diseases caused thereby, such as herpes, encephalitis, genital herpes, chicken pox, or herpes zoster.

1 . A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating alpha-herpesvirus infection comprising an  Elaeocarpus sylvestris  extract or a fraction thereof as an active ingredient. 
     
     
         2 . The pharmaceutical composition of  claim 1 , wherein the  Elaeocarpus sylvestris  extract is obtained by extraction with water, a lower alcohol having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or a mixture thereof. 
     
     
         3 . The pharmaceutical composition of  claim 2 , wherein the  Elaeocarpus sylvestris  extract is a 50% ethanol extract. 
     
     
         4 . The pharmaceutical composition of  claim 1 , wherein the alpha-herpesvirus is one or more viruses selected from among varicella-zoster virus (VZV), herpes simplex virus-1 (HSV-1) and herpes simplex virus-2 (HSV-2). 
     
     
         5 . The pharmaceutical composition of  claim 1 , wherein the alpha-herpesvirus infection is any one or more selected from among herpes, genital herpes, chickenpox, and herpes zoster. 
     
     
         6 . The pharmaceutical composition of  claim 1 , wherein the  Elaeocarpus sylvestris  extract comprises any one or more selected from the group consisting of methyl gallate, geraniin and casuarictin. 
     
     
         7 . A pharmaceutical formulation for preventing and treating alpha-herpesvirus infection comprising an  Elaeocarpus sylvestris  extract or a fraction thereof as an active ingredient. 
     
     
         8 . A health food for preventing and alleviating alpha-herpesvirus infection comprising an  Elaeocarpus sylvestris  extract or a fraction thereof as an active ingredient. 
     
     
         9 . The health food of  claim 8 , wherein the  Elaeocarpus sylvestris  extract is obtained by extraction with water, a lower alcohol having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or a mixture thereof. 
     
     
         10 . The health food of  claim 8 , wherein the alpha-herpesvirus is one or more viruses selected from among varicella-zoster virus (VZV), herpes simplex virus-1 (HSV-1) and herpes simplex virus-2 (HSV-2). 
     
     
         11 . The health food of  claim 8 , wherein the alpha-herpesvirus infection is one or more selected from among herpes, encephalitis, genital herpes, chickenpox, and herpes zoster. 
     
     
         12 . The health food of  claim 8 , wherein the  Elaeocarpus sylvestris  extract comprises any one or more selected from the group consisting of methyl gallate, geraniin and casuarictin.
