Abstract
The disclosure herein includes a grip and a method of making a grip configured to be grasped by a user. The grip can include a tube with a raised portion that is configured to form a portion of the surface to be grasped by the user. The grip can further include a gripping member that can be coupled to the tube leaving a portion of the raised portion exposed such that the surface to be grasped by the user includes both the raised portion and the gripping member.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 .- 25 . (canceled)
26 . A grip for the handle of an article, said grip comprising:
an underlisting sleeve configured to be telescopically slipped onto the handle of the article, said underlisting sleeve comprising an upper end including an integral cap and a lower end including an integral nipple and an attachment surface between said upper and lower ends, said lower end including an opening configured to receive said handle of the article; a single panel comprising an inner strength layer and an outer cushioning layer, the single panel comprising an upper edge, a lower edge, a first side edge, and a second side edge; and said single panel wrapped about and adhered to the attachment surface of said underlisting sleeve such that the first side edge and the second side edge form a longitudinal seam and wherein at least a portion of the cap extends longitudinally above the single panel and at least a portion of the nipple extends longitudinally below the single panel.
27 . The grip as in claim 26 , wherein a cross section of the grip near the cap is cylindrical and a cross section of the grip near the nipple is cylindrical and smaller than the cross section of the grip near the cap.
28 . The grip as in claim 26 , wherein the cap comprises a hole.
29 . The grip as in claim 28 , wherein the hole in the cap has a smaller diameter than the opening in the lower end of the underlisting sleeve
30 . The grip as in claim 26 , wherein an outermost surface of the outer cushioning layer forms a substantially smooth interface between the cap and the nipple.
31 . The grip as in claim 26 , wherein outer cushioning layer comprises a friction enhancing pattern.
32 . The grip as in claim 31 , wherein the friction enhancing pattern is heat compressed into the outer cushioning layer.
33 . The grip as in claim 26 , wherein the single panel includes a centering feature and the underlisting sleeve includes a centering feature and wherein the panel is adhered to the underlisting sleeve such that the centering feature of the single panel is aligned with the centering feature of the underlisting sleeve.
34 . The grip as in claim 26 , wherein the grip includes a flat region opposite the longitudinal seam.
35 . The grip as in claim 34 , wherein an upper region of the grip near the upper end of the underlisting sleeve flares away from the flat region.
36 . The grip as in claim 26 , wherein the single panel abuts a lower portion of the cap.
37 . The grip as in claim 26 , wherein the lower portion of the cap comprises a downwardly extending slot and the panel extends into the downwardly extending slot.
38 . The grip as in claim 26 , wherein the single panel abuts an upper portion of the nipple.
39 . The grip as in claim 37 , wherein the upper portion of the nipple comprises an upwardly extending slot and the single panel extends into the upwardly extending slot.
40 . The grip as in claim 26 , further comprising a coating over substantially the entire outer cushioning layer.Cited by (0)
