Gift package for sharable apple box

Abstract

The present invention is directed to packaging for fresh cut and dipped or enrobed fruit. The package comprises an outer sleeve and an encapsulating set-up carton board box; the inner compartment comprises internal inserts that secure a molded top and bottom piece that are specifically designed to hold cut pieces of fruit in a ball or “apple” formation (or that hold other fruit parts in different formations). The package was designed to protect, present, and display the fresh cut fruit product “plate-like,” “bowl-like,” or easily sharable form to allow it to be eaten direct from the package while maintaining a premium look and feel.

1 . A packing system comprising:
 an external packing component comprising:
 a top packaging element; and 
 a bottom packing element, the top packing element adapted to fit over the bottom packaging element to form an enclosed package; 
   an internal packaging component removably positionable within the enclosed package, the internal packaging component comprising:
 a top packaging insert having a bottom opening; and 
 a bottom packaging insert having a top opening, the bottom opening and the top opening adapted to face one another and form a continuous space when the top packaging insert and the bottom packaging insert are brought together; 
   a first inner compartment securably positionable within the continuous space, the first inner compartment comprising:
 a top cover; and 
 a bottom container, the bottom container comprising at least one molded cavity configured to hold a food piece of a first type, the top cover and the bottom container adapted to form an enclosed compartment when brought together; 
   a second inner compartment securably positionable within the continuous space, the second inner compartment comprising:
 a top cover; and 
 a bottom container, the bottom container comprising at least one molded cavity configured to hold a food piece of a second type, the top cover and the bottom container adapted to form an enclosed compartment when brought together; and 
   a sleeve adapted to removably receive a completed package, the completed package comprising (i) the first inner compartment or the second inner compartment securely positioned within the continuous space, (ii) the internal packaging component positioned within the enclosed package, and (iii) the external packing component.
