Navigating drivers to selected locations to reduce passenger wait time
Abstract
Implementations of the disclosure are directed to navigating drivers to selected locations to reduce passenger wait time. An example method includes determining, by a processing device, to direct a plurality of drivers to a geographical region. The method further includes identifying, by the processing device based on a corresponding current location for each driver of the plurality of drivers, a corresponding assigned location within the geographical region for each driver of the plurality of drivers. The method further includes transmitting, by the processing device to a plurality of driver computing devices associated with the plurality of drivers, navigational data to direct each driver of the plurality of drivers from the corresponding current location to the corresponding assigned location in the geographical region.

2 . The method of claim 1 further comprising:
determining expected passenger demand at a plurality of locations within the geographical region, wherein the identifying of the corresponding assigned location within the geographical region for each driver is further based on the expected passenger demand at the plurality of locations within the geographical region.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the determining to send the plurality of drivers to the geographical region is responsive to:
determining a current or expected fleet layout associated with the plurality of drivers is associated with one or more wait time parameters that do not meet a predetermined threshold wait time.
4 . The method of claim 1 further comprising determining one or more of:
wait time parameters based on the corresponding assigned location within the geographical region for each driver; and
distances to be traveled by the plurality of drivers from the corresponding current location to the corresponding assigned location.
5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the transmitting of the navigational data is responsive to determining the wait time parameters and the distances to be traveled are acceptable.
6 . The method of claim 4 , further comprising:
adjusting the corresponding assigned location within the geographical region for one or more drivers of the plurality of drivers responsive to determining one or more of the wait time parameters or the distances to be traveled are unacceptable.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the identifying the corresponding assigned location within the geographical region for each driver comprises generating an updated fleet layout.
8 . A system comprising:
a memory; and a processing device communicably coupled to the memory, the processing device to:
determine to direct a plurality of drivers to a geographical region;
identify, based on a corresponding current location for each driver of the plurality of drivers, a corresponding assigned location within the geographical region for each driver of the plurality of drivers; and
transmit, to a plurality of driver computing devices associated with the plurality of drivers, navigational data to direct each driver of the plurality of drivers from the corresponding current location to the corresponding assigned location in the geographical region.
9 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the processing device is further to:
determine expected passenger demand at a plurality of locations within the geographical region, wherein the processing device is to identify the corresponding assigned location within the geographical region for each driver further based on the expected passenger demand at the plurality of locations within the geographical region.
10 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the processing device is to determine to send the plurality of drivers to the geographical region responsive to determining a current or expected fleet layout associated with the plurality of drivers is associated with one or more wait time parameters that do not meet a predetermined threshold wait time.
11 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the processing device is further to determine one or more of:
wait time parameters based on the corresponding assigned location within the geographical region for each driver; and distances to be traveled by the plurality of drivers from the corresponding current location to the corresponding assigned location.
12 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the processing device is to transmit the navigational data responsive to determining the wait time parameters and the distances to be traveled are acceptable.
13 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the processing device is further to:
adjust the corresponding assigned location within the geographical region for one or more drivers of the plurality of drivers responsive to determining one or more of the wait time parameters or the distances to be traveled are unacceptable.
14 . The system of claim 8 , wherein to identify the corresponding assigned location within the geographical region for each driver, the processing device is to generate an updated fleet layout.
15 . A computer-readable non-transitory medium storing one or more instructions which, when executed by a processing device, cause the processing device to:
determine to direct a plurality of drivers to a geographical region; identify, based on a corresponding current location for each driver of the plurality of drivers, a corresponding assigned location within the geographical region for each driver of the plurality of drivers; and transmit, to a plurality of driver computing devices associated with the plurality of drivers, navigational data to direct each driver of the plurality of drivers from the corresponding current location to the corresponding assigned location in the geographical region.
16 . The computer-readable non-transitory medium of claim 15 , wherein the processing device is further to:
determine expected passenger demand at a plurality of locations within the geographical region, wherein the processing device is to identify the corresponding assigned location within the geographical region for each driver further based on the expected passenger demand at the plurality of locations within the geographical region.
17 . The computer-readable non-transitory medium of claim 15 , wherein the processing device is to determine to send the plurality of drivers to the geographical region responsive to determining a current or expected fleet layout associated with the plurality of drivers is associated with one or more wait time parameters that do not meet a predetermined threshold wait time.
18 . The computer-readable non-transitory medium of claim 15 , wherein the processing device is further to determine one or more of:
wait time parameters based on the corresponding assigned location within the geographical region for each driver; and distances to be traveled by the plurality of drivers from the corresponding current location to the corresponding assigned location.
19 . The computer-readable non-transitory medium of claim 18 , wherein the processing device is to transmit the navigational data responsive to determining the wait time parameters and the distances to be traveled are acceptable.
20 . The computer-readable non-transitory medium of claim 18 , wherein the processing device is further to:
adjust the corresponding assigned location within the geographical region for one or more drivers of the plurality of drivers responsive to determining one or more of the wait time parameters or the distances to be traveled are unacceptable.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
