Abstract
The present invention relates to compositions and methods related to controlling arthropods. Embodiments of the invention include compositions for controlling an arthropod, which can include one or more plant essential oils and methods for using these compositions. The plant essential oils, when combined, can have a synergistic effect.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A pest control composition comprising:
2.5 to 20 weight percent lauric acid; and 15 to 85 weight percent isopropyl alcohol, wherein the weight percentages are based on total weight of the composition.
2 . The pest control composition of claim 1 , further comprising vanillin.
3 .- 6 . (canceled)
7 . The pest control composition of claim 1 , further comprising at least one oil.
8 .- 10 . (canceled)
11 . The pest control composition of claim 1 , further comprising triethyl citrate.
12 . The pest control composition of claim 1 , further comprising greater than 0 up to 21.0 weight percent of triethyl citrate, based on total weight of the composition.
13 . The pest control composition of claim 1 , further comprising geraniol.
14 .- 17 . (canceled)
18 . The pest control composition of claim 1 , further comprising a surfactant.
19 .- 20 . (canceled)
21 . The pest control composition of claim 1 , further comprising a carrier vehicle selected from a gas, a solution, an emulsion, a suspension, and an emulsifiable concentrate.
22 . The pest control composition of claim 1 , wherein the composition is formulated as one of a spray powder, a paste, a soluble powder, a dusting agent, a granule, a foam, a tablet, and an aerosol.
23 . The pest control composition of claim 1 , wherein the composition is formulated as one of a water-based formulation, a dust formulation, a spray formulation, and a burning formulation.
24 . (canceled)
25 . A method for controlling arthropods comprising:
applying the composition of claim 1 to a desired host, area, or object; and controlling arthropods so that at least one of the following occurs:
at least 1% of arthropods on the host, within the area, or on the object exposed to the composition die;
at least 50% of arthropods exposed to the composition are repelled from the host, area or object,
at least 1% of arthropods on the host, within the area, or on the object exposed to the composition display reduced motility.
26 .- 27 . (canceled)
28 . A pest control composition comprising:
4 to 18 weight percent lauric acid; and 4.1 to 22.1 weight percent isopropyl myristate,
wherein the weight percentages are based on total weight of the composition.
29 . The pest control composition of claim 28 , further comprising vanillin.
30 .- 37 (canceled)
38 . The pest control composition of claim 28 , further comprising triethyl citrate.
39 . The pest control composition of claim 28 , further comprising 1.9 to 18.7 weight percent of triethyl citrate, based on total weight of the composition.
40 . The pest control composition of claim 28 , further comprising geraniol.
41 .- 46 . (canceled)
47 . The pest control composition of claim 28 , further comprising a carrier vehicle selected from a gas, a solution, an emulsion, a suspension, and an emulsifiable concentrate.
48 . The pest control composition of claim 28 , wherein the composition is formulated as one of a spray powder, a paste, a soluble powder, a dusting agent, a granule, a foam, a tablet, and an aerosol.
49 . The pest control composition of claim 28 , wherein the composition is formulated as one of a water-based formulation, a dust formulation, a spray formulation, and a burning formulation.
50 . (canceled)
51 . A method for controlling arthropods comprising:
applying the composition of claim 28 to a desired host, area, or object; and controlling arthropods so that at least one of the following occurs:
at least 1% of arthropods on the host, within the area, or on the object exposed to the composition die;
at least 50% of arthropods exposed to the composition are repelled from the host, area or object; and
at least 50% of arthropods on the host, within the area, or on the object exposed to the composition display reduced motility.
