Abstract

Methods, systems, and computer program products for incentivizing adoption of predefined practices using digital transactable assets are provided herein. A computer-implemented method includes surveying an activity meter at a predefined interval to determine when a predetermined activity threshold is reached, wherein the activity meter is (i) linked to a user and (ii) registered with a digital transactable asset authority in connection with a predefined objective pertaining to the activity; signing a meter reading from the activity meter with a private key upon reaching the predetermined activity threshold; and securely communicating the signed meter reading from the activity meter to the digital transactable asset authority, wherein the signed meter reading represents a level of activity by the user linked to the activity meter in furtherance of the predefined objective.

Claims

What is claimed is:

         1 . A computer-implemented method comprising:
surveying an activity meter at a predefined interval to determine when a predetermined activity threshold is reached, wherein the activity meter is (i) linked to a user and (ii) registered with a digital transactable asset authority in connection with a predefined objective pertaining to the activity; signing a meter reading from the activity meter with a private key upon reaching the predetermined activity threshold; and securely communicating the signed meter reading from the activity meter to the digital transactable asset authority, wherein the signed meter reading represents a level of activity by the user linked to the activity meter in furtherance of the predefined objective; wherein the method is carried out by at least one computing device.

2 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the predefined objective comprises an objective pertaining to usage of a renewable energy source.

3 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the digital transactable asset authority comprises an authority over an Internet-based medium of exchange.

4 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein level of activity by the user comprises a percentage of the predefined objective achieved by the user.

5 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the activity meter comprises an anti-tamper activity meter.

6 . A computer program product comprising a computer readable storage medium having program instructions embodied therewith, the program instructions executable by a device to cause the device to:
survey an activity meter at a predefined interval to determine when a predetermined activity threshold is reached, wherein the activity meter is (i) linked to a user and (ii) registered with a digital transactable asset authority in connection with a predefined objective pertaining to the activity; sign a meter reading from the activity meter with a private key upon reaching the predetermined activity threshold; and securely communicate the signed meter reading from the activity meter to the digital transactable asset authority, wherein the signed meter reading represents a level of activity by the user linked to the activity meter in furtherance of the predefined objective.

7 . The computer program product of claim 6 , wherein the predefined objective comprises an objective pertaining to usage of a renewable energy source.

8 . The computer program product of claim 6 , wherein the digital transactable asset authority comprises an authority over an Internet-based medium of exchange.

9 . The computer program product of claim 6 , wherein level of activity by the user comprises a percentage of the predefined objective achieved by the user.

10 . The computer program product of claim 6 , wherein the activity meter comprises an anti-tamper activity meter.

         11 . A system comprising:
a memory; and at least one processor coupled to the memory and configured for:
 surveying an activity meter at a predefined interval to determine when a predetermined activity threshold is reached, wherein the activity meter is (i) linked to a user and (ii) registered with a digital transactable asset authority in connection with a predefined objective pertaining to the activity;
signing a meter reading from the activity meter with a private key upon reaching the predetermined activity threshold; and
securely communicating the signed meter reading from the activity meter to the digital transactable asset authority, wherein the signed meter reading represents a level of activity by the user linked to the activity meter in furtherance of the predefined objective.

12 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the predefined objective comprises an objective pertaining to usage of a renewable energy source.

13 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the digital transactable asset authority comprises an authority over an Internet-based medium of exchange.

14 . The system of claim 11 , wherein level of activity by the user comprises a percentage of the predefined objective achieved by the user.

15 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the activity meter comprises an anti-tamper activity meter.
