Abstract
A multilayer substrate for application to a substrate. The multilayer substrate includes a film layer having first and second surfaces, a fibrous material layer having first and second surfaces, and a discontinuous adhesive region layer situated between the film layer and the fibrous material layer. The discontinuous adhesive region layer adheres the second surface of the film layer to the first surface of the fibrous material layer.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A multilayer substrate for application to a substrate, the multilayer substrate comprising:
a film layer having first and second surfaces; a fibrous material layer having first and second surfaces; and a discontinuous adhesive region layer situated between the film layer and the fibrous material layer, the discontinuous adhesive region layer adhering the second surface of the film layer to the first surface of the fibrous material layer.
2 . The multilayer substrate of claim 1 , further comprising a backcoat layer having first and second surfaces, the second surface of the backcoat layer is applied to the first surface of the film layer.
3 . The multilayer substrate of claim 1 , wherein the fibrous material layer is a char barrier material.
4 . The multilayer substrate of claim 1 , wherein the fibrous material layer is a moisture barrier protector material.
5 . The multilayer substrate of claim 1 , wherein the discontinuous adhesive region layer is formed of an adhesive of a reactive polyurethane (PUR) adhesive.
6 . The multilayer substrate of claim 1 , wherein the film layer or fibrous material layer includes a marking to authenticate a source of the multilayer substrate.
7 . The multilayer substrate of claim 1 , wherein the film layer is formed of a thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) material.
8 . A multilayer substrate for application to a substrate, the multilayer substrate comprising:
a film layer having first and second surfaces; a fibrous material layer having first and second surfaces; and a backcoat layer including a non-acrylic binder and having first and second surfaces, the second surface of the film layer applied to the first surface of the fibrous material layer, and the second surface of the backcoat layer applied to the first surface of the film layer.
9 . The multilayer substrate of claim 8 , wherein the backcoat layer, the film layer, and/or fibrous material layer include a non-halogenated flame retardant material.
10 . The multilayer substrate of claim 8 , further comprising a discontinuous adhesive region layer situated between the film layer and the fibrous material layer, the discontinuous adhesive region layer adhering the second surface of the film layer to the first surface of the fibrous material layer.
11 . The multilayer substrate of claim 10 , wherein the discontinuous adhesive region layer is formed of an adhesive of a reactive polyurethane (PUR) adhesive.
12 . The multilayer substrate of claim 8 , wherein the fibrous material layer is a char barrier material.
13 . The multilayer substrate of claim 8 , wherein the fibrous material layer is a moisture barrier protector material.
14 . The multilayer substrate of claim 8 , wherein the film layer or fibrous material layer includes a marking to authenticate a source of the multilayer substrate.
15 . The multilayer substrate of claim 8 , wherein the film layer is formed of a thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) material.
16 . A method of producing a multilayer substrate for application to a substrate, the method comprising:
applying a fibrous material layer to a film layer to obtain a multilayer substrate offline of a process of treating a substrate; storing the multilayer substrate to obtain a stored multilayer substrate; and applying the stored multilayer substrate to the substrate to obtain a finished composite material.
17 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the first applying step includes loading the multilayer substrate onto a roll, and the second applying step includes unloading the stored multilayer substrate from the roll.
18 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the first applying step includes laminating the multilayer substrate to the substrate using a dot gravure lamination process.
19 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the multilayer substrate further includes a backcoat layer.
20 . The method of claim 19 , further comprising applying the backcoat layer to the film layer.Cited by (0)
