Replaceable body saver
Abstract
A high pressure valve includes a valve body having a surface defining a corresponding portion of a conduit and a pocket. A removable insert is removably inserted into the pocket of the valve body and has surface defining a corresponding portion of the conduit. A seal insert is spaced from the valve body by the removable insert and has an interface with the removable insert. A moving member interfaces with the seal insert for selectively closing the conduit, the interface between the seal insert and the removable insert allows play between the seal insert and the removable insert in response to movement of the moving member.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A high pressure valve comprising:
a valve body having a cylindrical sidewall defining a corresponding portion of a cylindrical bore and an annular pocket having an end wall and a sidewall; a removable annular insert removably inserted into the annular pocket of the valve body, the removable annular insert having an outer sidewall defining a corresponding portion of the cylindrical bore, an inner sidewall disposed adjacent to the sidewall of the cylindrical pocket, a first end wall disposed adjacent to the end wall of the annular pocket, and a second end wall and a second inner sidewall forming a second pocket, wherein the first end wall of the removable annular insert contacts the end wall of the pocket of the valve body such that no gap is defined therebetween; a seal insert disposed within the second pocket and having a first end wall disposed adjacent to the second end wall of the removable annular insert to define a gap therebetween, and a second end wall; and a moving member for selectively closing the cylindrical bore, the moving member having a sidewall interfacing with the second end wall of the seal insert.
2 . The high pressure valve of claim 1 , wherein the movable member comprises a gate.
3 . The high pressure valve of claim 1 , wherein the movable member comprises a plug.
4 . The high pressure valve of claim 1 , wherein a surface of the portion of the cylindrical bore defined by the valve body is substantially in alignment with a surface of the portion of the cylindrical bore defined by the removable annular insert.
5 . The high pressure valve of claim 1 , wherein the removable annular insert is rigidly coupled to the valve body within the pocket.
6 . The high pressure valve of claim 1 , wherein the removable annular insert is rigidly coupled to the valve body within the pocket by at least one of interference fit, a threading between an outer sidewall of the annular insert and an inner sidewall of the pocket of the valve body, screws, bolts, glue, a snap ring, or a retainer.
7 . The high pressure valve of claim 1 , wherein the valve body and the removable annular insert are formed of different materials.
8 . The high pressure valve of claim 1 , where the valve body and removable annular insert are constructed of metal of substantially the same galvanic index.
9 . The high pressure valve of claim 1 , wherein the material forming removable annular insert has a higher wear resistance that the material forming the valve body.
10 . The high pressure valve of claim 1 , further comprising an annular seal at least partially disposed within first end wall of the removable annular insert and disposed between the first end wall of the removable annular insert and the end wall of the pocket of the valve body.
11 . The high pressure valve of claim 1 , further comprising an annular seal at least partially disposed within the end wall of the pocket of the valve body and between the end wall of the pocket of the valve body and the first end wall of the removable annular insert.
12 . The high pressure valve of claim 1 , further comprising an annular seal at least partially disposed within the inner sidewall of the removable annular insert and between the inner sidewall of the removable annular insert and the sidewall of the seal insert.
13 . A high pressure valve comprising:
a valve body having a surface defining a corresponding portion of a conduit and a first pocket; a removable insert removably inserted into the first pocket of the valve body and having a first surface defining a corresponding portion of the conduit and second and third surfaces defining a second pocket, wherein an interface between the removable insert and the pocket of the valve body is substantially gapless to prevent ingress of particulates from the conduit; a seal insert spaced from the valve body by the removable insert and having an interface portion disposed within the second pocked defined by the second and third surfaces of the removable insert; and a moving member interfacing with the seal insert for selectively closing the conduit, a gap between the seal insert and the removable insert allowing play between the seal insert and the removable insert in response to movement of the moving member.
14 . The high pressure valve of claim 13 , wherein the removable insert is rigidly fixed within the pocket of the valve body.
15 . The high pressure valve of claim 14 , wherein the interface between the seal insert and the removable insert includes a gap for allowing play between the seal insert and the removable insert in response to movement of the moving member.
16 . The high pressure valve of claim 13 , wherein the moving member comprises a gate adapted to move substantially linearly with respect to the seal insert.
17 . The high pressure valve of claim 13 , wherein the moving member comprises a plug adapted to rotate within the seal insert.
18 . The high pressure valve of claim 13 , further comprising a seal at least partially disposed within a wall the removable annular insert and disposed between the wall of the removable insert and a corresponding wall of the pocket of the valve body.
19 . The high pressure valve of claim 13 , further comprising a seal at least partially disposed within a wall of the pocket of the valve body and between the wall of the pocket of the valve body and a corresponding wall of the removable insert.
20 . The high pressure valve of claim 13 , further comprising a seal at least partially disposed within a wall of the removable insert and between the wall of the removable insert and a corresponding wall of the seal insert.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
