Abstract

A surgical device includes a handle, an elongated tube extending distally from the handle, and a suction tip at a distal end portion of the elongated tube. The suction tip has a cavity formed therein. A cutting blade is positioned at least partially within the cavity and rotatable across the cavity to sever tissue, the cavity dimensioned to receive the severed tissue for removal from a patient's body.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . (canceled)

         2 . A surgical device, comprising:
an elongate member defining a vacuum lumen; and a suction tip supported by the elongate member and defining a cavity in fluid communication with the vacuum lumen of the elongate member, the suction tip supporting first and second cutting blades configured to pivot between an open position and a closed position to sever tissue received within the cavity of the suction tip.

3 . The surgical device of claim 2 , further comprising a first post pivotably coupled to the elongate member by a first pin.

4 . The surgical device of claim 3 , further comprising a second post pivotably coupled to the first post by a second pin.

5 . The surgical device of claim 4 , wherein the second post supports the suction tip.

6 . The surgical device of claim 4 , wherein the first pin and the second pin are transverse to one another.

7 . The surgical device of claim 6 , wherein the first post and the second post articulate relative to the elongate member in different directions.

8 . The surgical device of claim 4 , wherein the elongate member defines a first bore and the first post includes a first clevis, the first pin disposed through the first bore and the clevis to secure the first post to the elongate member.

9 . The surgical device of claim 8 , wherein the first post defines a second bore and the second post includes a second clevis, the second pin disposed through the second bore and the second clevis to secure the second post to the first post.

10 . The surgical device of claim 2 , further comprising a handle supported on a proximal end portion of the elongate member.

11 . The surgical device of claim 10 , wherein the handle includes a switch to selectively activate a vacuum through the vacuum lumen.

         12 . A surgical system, comprising:
a surgical device including an elongate member and a suction tip supported by the elongate member, the elongate member defining a vacuum lumen, the suction tip defining a cavity in fluid communication with the vacuum lumen, the suction tip supporting first and second cutting blades configured to pivot between an open position and a closed position to sever tissue received within the cavity of the suction tip; and a container configured to receive the severed tissue from the suction tip.

13 . The surgical system of claim 12 , further comprising a first post pivotably coupled to the elongate member by a first pin.

14 . The surgical system of claim 13 , further comprising a second post pivotably coupled to the first post by a second pin.

15 . The surgical system of claim 14 , wherein the second post supports the suction tip.

16 . The surgical system of claim 14 , wherein the first pin and the second pin are transverse to one another.

17 . The surgical system of claim 16 , wherein the first post and the second post articulate relative to the elongate member in different directions.

18 . The surgical system of claim 14 , wherein the elongate member defines a first bore and the first post includes a first clevis, the first pin disposed through the first bore and the clevis to secure the first post to the elongate member.

19 . The surgical system of claim 18 , wherein the first post defines a second bore and the second post includes a second clevis, the second pin disposed through the second bore and the second clevis to secure the second post to the first post.

20 . The surgical system of claim 12 , further comprising a handle supported on a proximal end portion of the elongate member.
