Abstract

An exercise training system is provided having a system controller and a plurality of stimulant target units connected via a wireless network to the system controller. Each stimulant target unit has a light source providing light to stimulate a user, a proximity sensor providing an output of a distance between the proximity sensor and an object external to the unit, and means for providing feedback to the user to signal that the unit has been actuated by the user. The system controller includes a program for activating the stimulant target units in a sequence. The reaction by the user to the illumination is registered when the user brings a body part or other object to within a selected distance of the proximity sensor, this distance being programmable by the user.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . An exercise training system, comprising:
 a system controller;   a plurality of stimulant target units connected via a wireless network to the system controller, each stimulant target unit including a housing, a light source providing light to stimulate a user, and an impact sensor mounted in the housing;   wherein each stimulant target unit further includes a power source and a stimulant target unit controller that are separate from the power source and the stimulant target unit controller of each of the other stimulant target units, wherein the stimulant target unit controller for each of the plurality of the stimulant target units is wirelessly connected to the system controller and is programmed to receive instructions from said system controller;
 wherein the system controller signals multiple of the plurality of stimulant target units to illuminate the corresponding light sources simultaneously to stimulate the user;
 wherein the system controller, in a first programmed mode, illuminates the light sources of a first subset containing at least two of the plurality of stimulant target units simultaneously, deilluminates the light sources of the first subset upon receiving signals that are indicative of physical contact with the first subset, illuminates the light sources of a second subset containing at least two of the plurality of stimulant target units simultaneously, wherein the first and second subsets are different from one another.

         2 . The exercise training system according to claim 1 , wherein, in a second programmed mode, the system controller presents an interface requesting the user to select a selection of which of the plurality of stimulant target units make up the first subset, and which of the plurality of stimulant target units make up the second subset.

         3 . The exercise training system according to claim 2 , wherein, in said first programmed mode, the first subset contains a first number of stimulant target units from the plurality of stimulant target units and the second subset contains a second number of stimulant target units from the plurality of stimulant target units, wherein the second number is different than the first number.

         4 . The exercise training system according to claim 1 , wherein the number of stimulant target units constituting the exercise training system is dynamically configurable such that upon power up of the system controller, the system controller discovers how many of the stimulant target units are present.

         5 . The exercise training system according to claim 1 , wherein the stimulant target unit includes a lock member for attaching the stimulant target unit to a support mounting accessory, wherein the lock member is one part of a hook and loop fastener and the support mounting accessory provides the other part of the hook and loop fastener.

         6 . The exercise training system according to claim 1 , wherein each stimulant target unit from the plurality of stimulant target units includes an accelerometer positioned to detect physical contact.

         7 . The exercise training system according to claim 1 , wherein the system controller is a mobile device containing a touch-screen.

         8 . An exercise training system, comprising:
 a system controller that is a mobile device containing a touch screen; a stimulant target unit connected via a wireless network to the system controller, the stimulant target unit including a housing, a light source providing light to stimulate a user, and a speaker for stimulating the user, an impact sensor mounted in the housing, and a RFID tag reader; and a plurality of RFID tags, each RFID tag having a set of pre-defined information and is portable by the user, wherein the system controller is programmed to send a signal to the stimulant target unit to stimulate the user,
 wherein the RFID tag reader on the stimulant target unit reads the set of pre-defined information from whichever of the plurality of RFID tags is carried by the user to within a selected distance of the stimulant target unit, and registers actuation by the user in response to stimulation of the user.
