Abstract
Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, are described for identifying optimal content delivery networks for client devices. An example method includes: collecting performance information from each of a plurality of content delivery networks by each of a plurality of client devices; reporting the collected performance information by each of the plurality of client devices; and based on the collected performance information, mapping each client device to an optimal one of the plurality of content delivery networks to use for data transfer between the client device and the corresponding mapped content delivery network.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A method, comprising:
collecting performance information for connections between a plurality of client devices and a plurality of content delivery networks; building, by one or more computer processors, a predictive model based on the performance information; mapping, by the one or more computer processors, each client device to an optimal one of the plurality of content delivery networks using the predictive model to provide each client device with an identification of a corresponding mapped content delivery network; and for each client device, transferring data between the client device and the corresponding mapped content delivery network.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the performance information is collected by at least one of the plurality of client devices or the plurality of content delivery networks.
3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the plurality of client devices collects the performance information during a content update of a client application running on the plurality of client devices.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the performance information provides an indication of content delivery network performance.
5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the indication comprises at least one of a response time, a data transfer rate, a bandwidth, a server processing speed, or a server load.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the predictive model is built using a backend application server.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein building the predictive model comprises:
using the performance information as training data for a classifier.
8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the predictive model is run on at least one of a backend application server or the plurality of client devices.
9 . The method of claim 1 , comprising:
collecting updated performance information for the connections between the plurality of client devices and the plurality of content delivery networks; and adjusting the predictive model based on the updated performance information.
10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein an output of the predictive model comprises a performance score for each of the plurality of content delivery networks.
11 . A system, comprising:
one or more computer processors programmed to perform operations to:
collect performance information for connections between a plurality of client devices and a plurality of content delivery networks;
build a predictive model based on the performance information;
map each client device to an optimal one of the plurality of content delivery networks using the predictive model to provide each client device with an identification of a corresponding mapped content delivery network; and
for each client device, transfer data between the client device and the corresponding mapped content delivery network.
12 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the performance information is collected by at least one of the plurality of client devices or the plurality of content delivery networks.
13 . The system of claim 12 , wherein the plurality of client devices collects the performance information during a content update of a client application running on the plurality of client devices.
14 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the performance information provides an indication of content delivery network performance.
15 . The system of claim 14 , wherein the indication comprises at least one of a response time, a data transfer rate, a bandwidth, a server processing speed, or a server load.
16 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the predictive model is built using a backend application server.
17 . The system of claim 11 , wherein to build the predictive model the one or more computer processors are further to:
use the performance information as training data for a classifier.
18 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the predictive model is run on at least one of a backend application server or the plurality of client devices.
19 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the operations are further to:
collect updated performance information for the connections between the plurality of client devices and the plurality of content delivery networks; and adjust the predictive model based on the updated performance information.
20 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium having instructions stored thereon that, when executed by one or more computer processors, cause the one or more computer processors to:
collect performance information for connections between a plurality of client devices and a plurality of content delivery networks; build a predictive model based on the performance information; map each client device to an optimal one of the plurality of content delivery networks using the predictive model to provide each client device with an identification of a corresponding mapped content delivery network; and for each client device, transfer data between the client device and the corresponding mapped content delivery network.Cited by (0)
